I try saving some energy until december for my electric bill (this definitly will hurt this year) but reading this, I stopped my dual P3 and started the c² X2...maybe I can get around the D2OL installation bug on my 3200+ on work, then I could finally switch it from R@H to D2OL.
Hopefully some people will move from R@H to D2OL ;)

putting a SD3700 on it now, and an X2-4200 when I get a new UPS. Both run about 2.5Ghz. They are here to stay as well, sick of the stuff happeing in Rosetta.

Appears the server is down... all other net apps running fine, even turned Firewall off totally, still no go.
(I forgot the servers have a habit of doing that on this project... ah well, try again later)

I'll put my P3-800 back to the project, Rosetta does almost nothing for the old rigs anymore. It runs offline as well, so D2OL is a better project (if the servers are online, lol).

hmmm what do you mean with little? I only have my A64 running overnight and it can do ~100 on each core/night (21-9).
What does your rig in ~12h?
Edit: read it again and maybe you just ask how to install and setup d2ol because your rig has little system usage?


@Martijn hehe P3 rockz :cool: have a dual 933MHZ running for it and it does not that much, but enough for his energy when running 24/7.
btw: the project isn't down that often as it was during phase I. I was very happy the last weeks as it really was what I would call "stable" maybe once a month with some downtime, but personally I haven't remarked more.

@Max Tractor hmmm don't know about the tweaks but the client and the system is the same as when I started D2OL (almost a year ago now)

I know, the team was still running D2OL when I bought my D820 (imagine how old it is, it's a rev. A0, lol). I know about good output :)

well the only thing you have to look at - don't get the assigned tasks over the amount you can do in 4 weeks. They implemented a 4 week deadline for every task to avoid such huge dumps as we've seen in phase I.
I haven't remarked any candidate/point issues within the last weeks. every WU was credited as it should so nothing to worry about :)

1. go offline
2. if not already done lower tasks assigned
3. stop calculations
4. flush all tasks
5. go online again and do a manual update

now you will only get the ammount of tasks you want :cool:

We are gaining pretty fast, so I will pull one of them and put it on D2OL. Just a quick question though. When installing on a new machine, do I put in the node ID that I already have?

You don't have to use the same node, but you can if you want to... I use the same node on all my rigs.

Thanks i need it, the :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:'s been giving me all kind of troubles, first it wouldn't fully save all install files to desk because it rebooted at about 99% without warning, then it couldn't find a file on the disk , and now it reboots right after the thing is supposed to start windows for the first time. So it installs the files to disk, reboots, does the whole country/language thing for 30 minutes, reboots, goes into windows , you can see "welcome" flashing and it reboots again. Result= Corrupt install files and i can begin again. think it has something to do with othr partitions on the drive? i got a C and D on the HDD already but its loaded with stuff i CAN NOT afford to lose.

So this install's letter is F now, but that shouldn't be a problem normally....

Anywho if you can help me out with idea's i'd be a very happy man :)

HDD's are 100% fine, PSU is new and a 550 Watt Enermax with 2 12V rails designed for Dual Xeons....

its in essence a server, the PSU is server grade, mobo and cores and server grade, only thing not server grade is HDD's and GPU

My compressor system denied working yesterday, some bios problem as it seemed (it died two times when I tried to reset the settings). For any reason the bios looked not like the F10 bios (K8NXP-SLI) but as the first old bios versions ^^ very strange issue but i'll investigate this tonight, I was too tired yesterday after my holidays :p:

hmm check the memory usage for each thread of GridWin, each thread of d2ol is using around 75 megs of memory, that is 55,000k for Gridwin and 21,000k for D2ol.

shouldnt be that high unless you have alot of stuff running in the background.

Yes Yoad check this, 54/15mb here for each instance. Never heard of problems with the pagefile.

It's odd because I usualy run on 500MB Pagefile usage no more........ anyway a restart solved it so I don't care.

we need more power, im pushing my hardware here to the limits, three PCs [one really weak though, the other is medium, the third is my primary one, a C2D powerd machine], but even though, add my daily crunching to duc and the rest of you, and MAYBE we get as close as the daily candidate bandwith that one of the top three dutch power cows members is doing...(they have three members that each upload like 20k per day..... thats nuts, we need either more people to help us or a couple of people who can match those top three dutch's lol)

I had an ASUS A8N5X, nForce4 and it went up to 280 HTT with no problems (and no testing at all, not voltage increasments on chipset but possible in bios as far as I remember), enough options for overclocking regarding vcore and vdimm...63€ new around germany, maybe a good choice for you as well.
cheap psu? hmmm my Levicom Visible Power is now a year old and followed me until my X2 and is still stable. it always did a good job so far.
I checked and the 500W versions are not there anymore, only 450W but I think for 37€ there is no better PSU in my eyes.

Welcome aboard Yoad. @eddieate pick up a cheap 350w FSP can be had for around 28/30 gbp, very reliable. Barton/Duron/Venice/Opteron all pumping 24/7, another opteron by next week. Some more/new members crunching would be a help

Hopefully, I did not overestimate my total daily production, will soon find out after 3 or 4 days of production.
As for the top 10 that will take a while to catch up if I ever do. When reading the forums in XS.org I see some mighty powerfull machines. I obviously O/C or I would not be here. But not as much as some of the people on this forum.

If you log in on your home page at D2OL you can check on your personal stat and those of the team. But I agree most links give a 404 error.

Not really, D2OL has been pretty good as of late. The stats are now back updating and it looks like everyone has output..... mmmmm... output. ;)

And yeah servers were greatly stable the last weeks...so I don't mind a short stats down...I'm working that much at the moment, I think I have my 40 hours from monday to thursday :( And friday still to come :(

Nevertheless I bought myself a new "server" (I call my system running 24/7 "server")
Now: 1.7 GHZ celi, 512MB SDRAM, 250 Gig (3 HDDs), non-oc'able oem board (whatever it is, it is crap - integrated gfx also :p: )
Coming: MSI 845 board with AGP but still SDRAM (it's enough for this system and I have sdram laying around like dust here :D) 2 GHZ celi (which should do 2.6 GHZ on this board) and 1 GB of RAM
Should increase output a bit here :)
