I've been trying to figure out, what in the hell cooler will fit on my mother's 5300 card, which overheats like a mofo. I took the heatsink off, and the GPU reads "nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200"! Yet all the information I've found, calls it a 5300, by MSI! The card is red in color, and the model number is MS-8968, with "Mirco-Star" above it.
So just what the hell is this thing? An overclocked 5200? A normal, run of the mill 5200? Is it really a 5300? Or is it an evil heat generating device, spawned from hell?

What the hell are you talking about?! Did you even read the topic or did you post in the wrong thread!?!?
Edit:
Okay, someone answered my question in the air cooling area. :D
The good news is yes, any cooler that will fit a 5200 will fit this. The bad news however...
Even though it is labelled a pcx5300, it is actually a hamstrung pci-express version of the vanilla 5200. Hamstrung as in it only has 64-bit memory not 128-bit. That's some performer you've got on your hands there! :p:
edit - ok I missed the part about it being from your mother's pc, I doubt she'll mind!

And this is relavent to the topic how...? He is talking about his mother's video card and asking for cooling help, not what video card he should get.
And yeah, Nullvoid is right :p

:hm:
....what does my sig have to do with my mother's graphics card? And at what point did I ever mention a 6600GT? You're either nutz.... or you're "special" :wth:, which I think is the politically correct word for it.
