Those green sparkles are called artifacts. It means one of two things. Either your voltage is too low to handle those clocks (most probable answer) or your card is overheating (probably not as likely). What are you temps?

or possibly card is not getting enough power. is there a molexon the card and did you plug it in?

The 7600GT does not have a molex connector. Power comes directly from the PCI-E connector...75W max...

no, overheating never causes artifacts its either:
1) reached the end of its overclocking or
2) needs more volts to push it on
super heating causes artifacts (>100C)

That's not entirely true. I used to have a Palit GeForce 6600GT that woul artifact at anything beyond about 78-79C. Overheating can cause artifacts, but it doesn't typically. Most of the time with 7600GTs, the problem is voltage. I don't know how comfortable you are modding your cards, daboogas94e, but if you do the pencil mod on them, there shouldn't be a problem and you should be able to get up to around 700/900 with a decent mod. With a small mod, you should be able to achieve 630/810 stably. If you don't feel comfortable modding, lower your clocks down. With my 7600GT, I can only get like 590/790 without a mod. Although part of my issue might be my PSU....but that's a little off topic. Lower your clocks and see if the artifacts go away. If they do, you need more volts. 60s isn't really that hot. A 7600GT could run around 75C 24/7 and it wouldn't shorten it's life much at all, although the lower the better. You should expect around 50C load with the VF900.

Lower it down even further. Lower it to 560/700 and see what happens. If you stop getting artifacts, it's a voltage issue. And in that case, wait until you get your VF900s, then do a volt mod and crank the clocks WAAAY up.

well i found my problem to be......drivers......after calling XFX they suggested goin down the 84.11 forceware drivers b/c theres a known issue in 91.31 with newer cards artifacting. supposedly it will be fixed in the newest driver release.
i got my VF900's in an it dropped my temps to the 40's!!!!!:woot: :woot: :woot: and got the CCB1E stepping of the Opty i ordered. not the CCBBE i was hoping but thats ok!

So how is everything now? No artifacting, low temps? What is your max stable overclock now?
