I've been searching and searching and searching... and nothing! :brick:

PLEASE, if you know of something that will fit a 5300 card, let me know!

The card spacifically, is an MSI PCX5300 (MS-8968).

I'm trying to fix my mother's computer's heat issues. The card overheats like a mofo, and gets so hot just from idling, it could probably burn you're finger!

The screw configuration is wierd. One screw hole through the memory heatsink and another screw hole through the VGA heatsink, together fit a 60mm fan perfectly, but a fan that small is no where near big enough. I tried it and it was still too toasty. It needs something with more cfm than a tiny fan like that can offer, without being so loud it drives her nuts, which as it turns out is most 60mm fans that are high powered enough, especially since I'd be mounting it directly onto a heatsink. (this would make it even louder)

Maybe I could find a different heatsink that allows a bigger fan? Even one I could drill another hole into, so it would fit?

What the hell!!! I took off the heatsink, and it says nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200!!! Yet all the information I've found, calls it a 5300, by MSI!

So just what the hell is this thing? Do I need to look for a 5200 compatible cooler? Or.... what?

The good news is yes, any cooler that will fit a 5200 will fit this. The bad news however...

Even though it is labelled a pcx5300, it is actually a hamstrung pci-express version of the vanilla 5200. Hamstrung as in it only has 64-bit memory not 128-bit. That's some performer you've got on your hands there! :p:

edit - ok I missed the part about it being from your mother's pc, I doubt she'll mind!

Man... thank gawd. I was having a hell of a time finding something that would fit a 5300.

And, it doesn't matter how well it performs. She could have a 10 year old video card and it wouldn't matter. She only uses it for Photoshop and stuff like that.
