hdtv moniter x1800xt

i have magnavox 15mf605t 15" hdtv lcd moniter and x1800xt. i hooked up component cables from my lcd to the videocard using ati adaptor. On the moniter i switch to the imput source "HD" (like the manual says for component cables) and i don't see any picture. On the lcd's box it says hd ready and supports 480p 720p and 1080i. How can i use my x1800xt w/ hd lcd w/o using vga cables? i want to try out the higher resolutions.

Max rez for your panel is only 1024x768, you will need to set this up in the ATI control pannel when you connect the card to the TV.

Why is it that the box states 480p/720p/1080i. arn't those resolution specifications? 720p is 1280 × 720 resolution. Ive read about pple using their x1800xt w/ 1080i hd plasma.
