I've seen guys with their rigs in basically a metal frame, it is like having no case. Can anyone suggest a place to buy one, and more importantly what they are properly called.

They were custom built, not bought.
If you mean what team japan and coolaler etc use..

Yes, Team Japan are precisely who I had in mind. Guess I can mod|strip an old case to get close.

Do you want it for benching with, otherwise i guess dust would become a problem?

Theres somewhere that sells them, Ive seen it, but I cant think of the place off hand.
Though for a metal shell, they are very expensive for some reason.

The motherboard tray out of a lianli case would do the job. :) I use a USPS Priority mail box as my case. :p:

Yes, benching. I'd have to clean regularly with compressed air no doubt.
