I'm not a total noob but to be honest I've never paid attention to this 64bit OS stuff. Is the 64bit version of XP out and can I get it for free if I have XP pro?
Or better question: is it even worth using 64bit XP or am I looking for compatibility problems

64-bit XP has been out for quite awhile now, and AFAIK you used to be able to get a free upgrade when they first released it... but now you have to pay all over again :(
Don't bother anyway though. Unless you're looking to do some Pi benchmarking or something like that, you'll find there's more hassle coming at you from trying to find/patch drivers and apps than it's worth.

I use it, not much difference other than my scanner drivers don't work and my printer drivers act wierd. Only advantage is that I can get it to notice all my ram.

I've been using it successfully for over 6 months now. If you have at least a moderate PC / SW knowledge there's no problem at all. It is somewhat faster than 32 bit...

I'd say it's not worth it for the average person, I've never had a problem with 32 bit xp, but I use it nonetheless. The code is based on windows server 2003.

Been using Xp64 ever since it came out. I used to have only one PC running XP64. Now all my three PCs are running on X64 now.
As others said, XP 64 has been out for a while now. Workarounds for most of wifi PCI cards/printers are out there. So, generally, you can get most of components working if you know how to search around the net.

Is it a boost or a decrease in games that are 32bit on a 64bit OS ?
