It is on my P3 Duals only they go like this till they go to sleep and waking them up makes the same thing happen over and ove to infinity.
All cores are new and work fine when the switches are NOT used to get gromacs, so the cores are fine.

Have been to Stanford but they only gave more questions, no answers, 6Gb of systems are sitting idle thanks to this.

Does anyone have a clue why the EXACT same setup works on the AMD duals but not on the P3-1G duals.

Is it an Intel thing ? does the Intel need different switches ?

Anyone ? 6 Gb is doing ZIP till the Stanford thing is fixed. and an answer is forthcoming.

Hmmm, I see that it's downloading version 1.41 of the gromacs core (dated January 28, 2003), where my rigs are using version 1.43 (dated March 4, 2003).

This is a complete guess, but it seems logical, so here goes....
Running gromacs on an AMD uses the 3dNow+ code, and uses SSE2 on an Intel. Maybe these newest work units (the 7-pointers assigned from .123 server) require the latest core to properly engage SSE2, but work fine with 3dNow+. This would explain why it works on an AMD but not on Intel.

For some reason stanford is giving you an earlier version of the core. I can email you my good, newer core, or you could turn off assembly optimizations or remove the advmethods flag and try to get tinkers instead.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but it's the only thing I can think of.

That was the problem the tinkers were killing my score 400 frames at 1 hour+ each frame for 19 points ? not a chance.

I have downloaded cores from every machine I own, and none work on a 78 core , but ONLY on the Inhell machines.

Honestly, they say they benchmark the systems to do 19 points in a week ? HA the power costs me more.

there are three P3 1G duals all same same. I had to keep deleting to make it get rid of these killer w/u's that are just a waste of time and money.

Sure if it gave back 250+points, I would let it run, but not for 1 hour+ / frame and 400 of em, that should be illegal to ask that of any system no matter the speed of it.

A dual P3-1G is not a rocket ship but it's also not a POS either.

TB, try using the 1.43 GROMACS core. Copy it from an AMD rig of yours or have one of us email it to you. Make sure it's the 1.43 core though and not the 1.41

Not sure if this helps at all but found this post on the f@h forums talking about someone having a similar problem:

- seems likely that the fact it's trying to use 1.41 core is the problem since error message is the same and as with your problem it seems to loop then sleep. However unfortunately the solution given won't do you any good since the person in question was using google as their team which turned out to be the problem :( and the second person with the same problem later in the post doesn't seem to know how he fixed it.

If we can just track down what is causing it to try and get the older core version maybe we can actually solve this.

Just thought I would add - I've just been folding tinker core so far and have been thinking about trying some gromacs WUs since my dual 450 seems to take forever to do tinker WUs (it's been folding a couple of p631 and p634 since the 19th :rolleyes: ) not sure if it's worth it now since it will probably encounter the same problems you have Terrorbyte :(

Want me to give it a try once the current WUs finish just to see if the problem is reproduceable by others? (note it might not be for a couple of days since they're only 77% through the WUs and I don't want to just dump the WUs after folding them for so long now...)

Dumped a long time ago, what's the point ? for 19 points at a time of around 450 hours, that's like nearly 19 days , that is insaine for 19 points.
What Stanford are doing is beyond me, if you want to do 19 days for 1 point a day, there is no way I will do that.
They say your system is benchmarked, well that simply can't be correct, think about it 19 days for 19 points ? yeah sure. gladly deleted.

Back to the problem, no matter what core from other places still it changes the 78 core to an outdated version, so i have 6Gb sitting here doing nothing, as I can't get a 78 core that works, the FAH3Console is the correct version.

I have to give up, when stanford who make the stuff have no idea at all what's the point ?
