7950x2 works on MSI k8n neo4 platinum?

I hope this question hasn't been asked before, because I used the search button on this forum and google, it couldn't help me.

A friend of mine has an MSI k8n neo4 platinum and now he wants to upgrade his videocard to a 7950x2, atm he has some cheap, crappy ATI card on it. Does this card work fine on the MSI mobo?

it will work assuming he has an open PCI-e port, no nForce-SLi needed.

how powerfull is his PSU, id' see needing around 40A on the 12V rail(or a dedicated GFX card PSU) to have it run smootherly, those things suck a lot of juice.

The MSI should work, but dont take my work on it, check on nividas site, they have a list of official supported MOBOs

Just checked the nvidia website, seems the 7950x2 is supported on v1 of the board.

Ofcourse I will first update the mobo to the newest bios :)

Good that you checked that page, as nvidia insists that motherboards not on its list will not post with the 7950.
Make sure there room for the card. It is massive (around 9.5 inches long). In my case it stretches from the back almost to the hard drive bays. It is also 2 cards in height, so it will most likely block the pci slot directly under it. I had to reorganize wires and move my hard drive to fit it.
Also, it runs very warm. I use stock cooling and it idles at 61-65C and can reach 70C+ under load.
The 7950 is a great card though, very powerful.

It shouldn't be much longer than a normal card. The 7900 GX2 is really long and runs hotter, are you getting the 2 mixed up?
