Hi there guys; i was thinking of getting a 7900GT :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130050
(from another XS thread); of course i could just get one for US$250 instead from newegg or elsewhere but my question is should i instead of getting a 7900GT; get a X1900XTX which, according to:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/index.cfm?a=wiki&tag=rmp_vds
is much better; however it is much more expensive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102037
$US340 which equates to $450AUSD;
the x1900xtx is ranked below the 7950 GX2 according to the whirlpool video card listings and the 7950 GX2 is a whopping $US500 at cheapest so thats most probably not an option.

just some other questions i have:

does anyone know when the x1950xtx is coming out?
when the x1950xtx comes out will it cause the x1900xtx to become cheaper?
should i wait for the DX-10 cards? i thought these were coming out at the end of the year and i would like to get my gfx (from the US) in september or october

any thoughts or answers are greatly appreciated; thanks

I would wait for the 1950. It should be ~$400 at launch which is later this month.

If you are getting it in September/October then get the x1950XTX for about $400. Some benches shows that it's faster in games then a 7950gx2.

I myself have a x1900XTX and love it more then my wife's SLI 7900GTX setup. I'll probally be getting the x1950XTX when it comes out if it comes out this month.

NoPeace - out

yeah just took a read at the X1950XTX link; coming out late august sounds awesome but i was also reading someone saying that the G80 release would make the X1950XTX and X1900XTX become cheaper (to compete)

anyone know when the G80 is due to be released? i read its near the end of the year and i dont think i can wait that long ><

Get this card: http://www.maxitmag.com/images/stories/reviews/graphics/xfx/ucbabe-xfxbig.jpg

:hm:

No, X1900's > 7900GT's so I'd wait for X1950XTX or get the cheaper X1900XT right now.

yeah well now my situations like: no on the 7900GT BUT if i were to get an x1950xtx how will it stand up to the dx10 cards?
do you know when theyre being released?
coz i think that once the 8-series are released they'll cause x19**XTXs to become cheaper? just a thought

as for that GFX; ROFL!

Well, now that nVidia announced 2 more cards maybe You should consider one of those!? 7900GS is basically a 90nm 7800GT which doesn't sound too hot but 7950GT clocked 550/1400 with 512MB mem, priced $299, looks like a nice deal.

This is what I think ( but of course I don't know );

a) G80 will hit the market in nov/dec & R600 hits the market in dec/jan. I don't believe in sept/oct. Nope, that won't happen.
b) G80 & R600 's DX9 performance* is unknown but they'll be faster than a X1950XTX & significantly faster than a 7900GTX!

:stick:

c) Windows Vista with DX10 support released in feb/mars.

*Being DX10 cards doesn't nessecarily mean they'll blow current gen top cards out of the water. Features can be added without a perf boost.

Advice: Get the damn DX9 card now (aug/sept), enjoy gaming & enjoy life today! http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif

thanks for the advice i think i will; what im going to do now is either get the x1950xtx or the x1900xtx whichever is cheaper and bang for buck really; then im going to hold onto it and play the sh*t out of it; in 6 months time ill grab a dx10 card; coz dont dx10 cards need a diff mobo as well ?! ><

ive seen some benchmarks, and reviews said that if u have an 1900XTX its not worth upping to 1950

i personally just bought a 1900XTX for $240, so im not even considering the 1950

Get a X1900XT, save yourself a lot of money, and clock it, and you have X1950 performance.
