Any ideas to where I can buy a Tuniq Tower?
Want one to cool a E6600 in september, I've got a month to get one I just need places where I can get them as I know they are in short supply atm.
So any ideas? :)
Thanks Conc :)

I used to have a BT but I spent a while getting the thing to fit my DFI motherboard so this time I decided on a nice Scythe Ninja or Infinity but at the last minute looked at the Tuniq tower 120 attachment and it is everything the BT was not. Spring loaded screws are excellent to make sure the sucker is at the right tightness.
The design and finish of the Scythe looks better but you cannot argue with the results of the Tuniq .. bit of wet and dry and the bottom should be ok.
No cpu to put it on yet .. nor motherboard , RAM or power supply. I am missing a hard drive as well. Keyboard and mouse and CD-ROM is not a problem though :D At least when conroe finally arrives it'll have something nice sitting on it's head.

Ordered one yesterday from NCIX.com. They are Canadian, but I should at least get one! I have beenusing my new gaming laptop a lot so the desktop being out of commish until the new Tuniq arrives isn't a big deal. I got an X2 4400+ decapped waiting for it. Hits 2800 dual prime @ 1.65V

The Tuniqe seems no where to be found on U.S. soil. Checked the only places that have them; Xoxide, FrozenCPU, and Performance-PCs have them all out of stock:(

Highly doubtful. They had a batch last week which went in 2 days, so me thinks that was only a couple maybe less than 100.

I had 2 from Japan. 1 spare.
Some guy from the US brought it off me on this forum (he may not wish to be named!)... he was anxious to get it, so indeed... It seems they are Ăśber scarce in the US.

there's a guy on ebay selling them shipped to UK. You need to change the location to europe or worldwide before his auction will show.

got mine this morning just running some test at work againts a ninja cooler.
so far with a E6600 at stock and under dual prime 95 it's 4C cooler than the ninja using the same fan but it should improve a little after the as5 has had time to cure.

i think the base needs a good lapping you can feel the ridges not very flat at all.

It came really well packed and everything very well organized .. good work by the manufacturer. The base is ridged but a few minutes with wet and dry will give a nice multidirectional non ridged lightly scratched surface which will accept the thermal paste well. I am not a great believer in perfect mirror finishes as you have nowhere for the paste to go to reduce the overall thickness of paste ( if you see what I mean ).
Compared to the Big Tornado initial impressions are very favourable.

This is so annoying..
The german shop I ordered from said they had stock (ebay) and I emailed them (using freetranslation.com :p: ) and they said something about the supplier not supplying the heatsinks. So it's been 15 days and hasn't been posted FFS. Now I need to try and tell them in German to give me a refund so I can buy it from Kustompcs...
ARGH, also Kustompcs has the lian li pc7 se+ that I want to buy...

Has anyone mounted one of these on a bare X2 core? i am wondering if the preset spring tension would still be usable to mount to the die alone. I suppose I can AS5 and remount my cap, but I would rather straight surface mount to the bottom of a lapped tower 120 if possible.

If you brought 10 yourself, you'd sell them easy. Only bad thing is that we have to pay stupid VAT which is extortionate, then P&P over to you guys is gonna be stupidly expensive.
If only it was as cheap as things coming in the other direction.
I swear, if a vendor in the US shipped to the UK. 1) They'd be rich 2) UK places would probably go out of business!

I tested my Tuniq tower yesterday with a 70w Pelter and my 200cfm Papst 6212nm fan. In the past when I have tried to air cool the Peltier the inefficient nature of air cooling would mean that it would cool down and then heat soak would mean temps would rise.
The Tuniq actually managed to keep the Peltier 5C down under ambient which is not bad going at all and shows how heatsinks have come on over the years with more surface area and heatpipes. However of course there is no cpu involved with my test, I do not fancy it's chances with 70w plus 50-100w as well, never mind a "proper" 200+w Peltier. To me Peltiers are only good with chilled water cooling and if you have that then why bother ?
But the Tuniq did the business.. now I just need a Conroe to stick it on. I have the feeling it's going to do pretty well.
Regards
Andy

I spoke with Paul from Sunbeam they'll be in the states on the 15th of september . An Aussie reseller is claiming to get new stock on the 8th or 9th but to me isnt worth the hassle of international shipping and jsut wait for the new US shipment. Plus I see from mounting pics the tuniq is mounted horizontally I'd liek to mount it vertically so it would benefit from my case fans.

Yeah, as it stands i think its kinda silly. Alot of air is getting re-circulated that could possibly just be blown right out of the rear exhaust fan. But a few questions...
*When i get mine soon how would everyone suggest facing the fan, pushing downwards or upwards? How is everyone facing theirs?
*Has anyone swapped out the stock fan for something different/better? How does the stock fan perform/sound?
Cheers.
i have my Tuniq facing upwards, so the fan blows the air towards my rear case fan
the stock fan performs quite well, not much in the way of vibrations or whiny motor noise, i only really notice the sound of the air blowing thru the fins

And is there anyone that can answer Rickster's question? Im curious about this myself, with being about to buy an X2 and after hearing all the stories of poor IHS contact and resulting limitation of the one core.
Thanks.
