im really looking forward to this game. looks like its gunna kick ass. but expect it to be buggy when it comes out...(not surprised). anyone else lookin forward to this game?

Its the same engine as bF2, so therefore there are no major improvements over it. ITs just a mod.

Im looking forward to other mods that are coming out such as Point of eXistance, and Forgotten Hope.

lol, sure it is. It was fun when people were editing files to unlock things that you had to work for, it was fun when the aim bots went rampant. Not to mention how many god damn bugs are still running around in that games code.

I will most certainly pick up BF2142 for the exact same reason I picked up BF2. If it turns out to be a "decent" game its still better than 85-90% of the games out there. Has a good amount of "Bang" for my buck...

I love BF2 now. Please don't mention hackers / cheaters in the same sentance as BF2. Not why *cough* Counter-Strike is still around :rolleyes:

Now that game was f'kin annoying.

Anyway, I moved on. On to BF2. It's certainly the best game I've ever played online. Bugs are annoying, but then the clipping and blatant hacks on CSS did my head in.

I'll buy it just cos I don't know of any "real-army" stuff is coming out. (by real-army I mean like BF2. Humans! - like combat today).

Having said that about robots and stuff. I will be getting 2142 and ET: Quake Wars. They both look good and I'll have a high-end rig for the first time to play them in all their glory.

But still.. them bloody mecha robot things :(

I'm definitly looking foward to it, I know its going to be awesome. BF2 is the best PC game in the world, I have played hundreds and I can say that with confidence. if 2142 is built with the same engine, great all the more reason to pick this one up.

Unlike BF2 they are actually QA testing BF2142 to make sure its their most polished game yet. They have also already promised that the ingame server browser is some 500% faster than the BF2 version.

I think it's pretty damn unfair of any of you to say that you won't play it because its a "mod". If that was your reasoning then you might as well stop playing any game on the Doom3 or Unreal engines because those are essentially modifications of an existing game. (not including Unreal Engine 3).

I think BF2142 is going to be fantastic, and anyone who has given half a crap to read an interview or new previews can plainly see its not just BF2 with the exact same features in a different time.

I think there enough added features and change to warrant a purchase, but if you guys want to be pansies and keep playing your existing games than be my guest. What really suprises me is why everyone is going ape :banana::banana::banana::banana: over Quake Wars. I'm not one to criticize Id software but QWET looks extremely boring and the vehicles/weapons are a total joke. I honestly don't think QWET stands a chance considering its NOW coming out around the same time as Unreal Tournament 2007, Crysis, and will most likely get replaced by better team games like Team Fortress 2.

I'm not looking forward to 2142 but I'll probably end up getting it anyway if the number of people playing BattleField 2 seriously dropped.

I got BF2 about a year ago and had nothing but problems (It refused to play on my 6600GT), by the time I ago a new Video card (4 months later) I lost the the stupid manual (and the key code) rendering the game compeltely useless :mad: But the time I did have with it was extremely fun and I really, really want to get another copy.

I don't want 2142 as the idea of Robot and lasers seem... a little far fetched.

1) There are no lasers in the game.....all of the weapons are just futuristic versions of existing guns...that fire bullets.
2) There are no robots, there is a mech battlewalker type deal that every team has access too and they are EASY to take out according to what i've read by dice.

Multiple upgrades in BF2142 are bombs that disable/cripple vehicles. Not to mention there are seeking-mines that follow vehicles. Support class even has an anti-armor GUN that can pierce armor.

Go read some previews guys.

Im sorry, but every single game since Quake I has hacks of some kind. You must be delirious to think they are confined to a certain game. Most people who have them have no idea how to use them correctly anyways.

People who go 60-1 in games get banned for cheating by admins, everyone else just wasted their time downloading potential a virus so they can compete with everyone else.....

It's not even close to being as big of a problem as anyone makes it out to be, even in counter strike source. I've found that people who complain about cheaters in online games are casual gamers who get spanked repeatedly or people who are just generally paranoid.

I'm not saying cheats dont exist...but some of you act like every other person is using them.

Roger that. I agree m8. Seems there's a few peeps that feel this way. There are a few "modern warfare" games on the horizon... so I'll be looking out for another BF2. Only bigger, better and badder! lol. (how cheesy!)

Because, in BF2 the developpers had to find the middle ground between realism and game balance. Basically, they had to comprimise some realism in order to acheive the balance they wanted. A good example is how many anti-tank rounds are required to be fired into the threads of a tank in order to disable its utility... not too realistic is it? This lack of realism is required, but still affects the overall experience in my opinion. You "notice" that it's not like it should be even though the game is awesome in terms of the experience it offers.

In BF2142, there are no such limitations. The developers can get creative and "invent" what will work and it could make the environment feel just like warfare in BF2142 is supposed to be. Nobody knows what is real or not, what is exagerated or reduced... In my opinion this could lead to a more balanced and more enjoyable experience overall.

Well thought, I just feel that the overall improvements they have made to squad/commander and the fact that they say the server browser is several hundred times faster is enough for me to want it badly.

Enemy Down in the UK is now requesting teams to sign up for a BETA BF2142 league.

Here's some nice information for you guys on one of the modes ;)

Titan Mode
Both sides must protect their Titan, while attempting to attack and destroy their enemy's. This is achieved by capturing and holding missile silos. Each silo will then launch missiles at the enemy Titan and slowly reduce its shields.

Once a Titan's shields are reduced to zero it can be boarded by enemy soldiers. The soldiers will then attempt to access the Titan's reactor core and critically damage it.

Once this happens all on board have limited time to escape the Titan before the chain reaction causes it to detonate.

Those Bad Company pics are sooooo target renders its rediculous. They just licensed the Unreal 3 Engine in the past week...maybe that game is using their own engine but the chances of that happenening are close to none. Not to mention Bad company is really s single player game (that looks like Mercenaries) with multiplayer modes.
