I'm having a hard time deciding on a motherboard for my new system build.

These are the components that will be used:

Conroe E6600
Teamgroup 667 3-3-3-8
Scythe Infinity

I want a board that will run the e6600 @ 9x400 or 8x450. I also would like it to be kentsfield ready.

The boards I'm currently thinking about:

Intel "Bad Axe"
Asus P5W DH
Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6

Any input would be helpful - Thanks!

I'd say go with the Asus P5W DH. Simply the best. :)

I've just bought the p5wdh for my e6600.
From reading over this forum as well as others its about the only board out there that you are not going to have any prob's getting to at least 430fsb+ without mods.

u could get a e6300, it only falls behind the e6600 overclocked by alittle
e6600 can get to 4-4.3ghz while the e6300 can get to 3.5-3.7ghz if the overclocker is very experienced

I'm leaning toward the Asus P5W DH now that so many here and over at tankguys forum have recommended it.

I'm still open to suggestions if anyone else has any.

I'm also having a hard time finding the P5W in stock anywhere. If anybody knows where I can get one please let me know.

I got mine from antaresdigital earlier in the week. It arrived on Wednesday. They were great to deal with. The sticker on my bios chip says 0502. My guess is that my e6300 won't boot when it gets here TODAY.

I already have a new BIOS chip on the way from ASUS.

@PcCI2iminal:

Are there any mods done to that board that are resulting in the high FSB?

I'm about ready to "pull the trigger" and buy from Antares but I can't get them to tell me what bios the board has. They will only tell me that they have it in stock.

I've also tried getting in touch with TankGuys cause I know their boards have the right bios, but I haven't gotten a respose from them yet.

u dont have to
heres how u request a free bios chip from asus DONT COPY THE STUFF IN THE **:
rma@asus.com
- "The motherboard does not work as advertised without a newer BIOS than what it shipped with. I need a newer BIOS revision to work with my Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I do not have a spare processor to flash the BIOS with. Please send me a new BIOS chip with revision 0801 or newer using the information below. Thanks in advance."*
- name
- street address
- phone number
- model number & serial number
- ground(free) or overnight($20)**

*supposedly 0801 is compatible with ALL Core 2 Duo processors, but if you want the beta revision 0901 (as of 8/9/06), specify that here
**for overnight, give them your credit card info as well (account number, expiration date, and CSV)

I understand that you can request a new BIOS from ASUS but I'm also curious if they have addressed the issue yet. Will new boards be shipping with the correct BIOS or most likely they still will not be? I'm pretty sure I don't have another processor to allow me to flash the BIOS so I'd have to request one. it would be nice though if it was sent out correctly in the first place.

I think the new batch of P5W coming out should have upgraded bios. All the old ones should be gone by now since there is a shortage from all distributors. I got mine shipped today supposely from the new batch, I'll see by Monday wasup.

I went ahead and ordered from Antares. I assume that it will be the correct bios revision due to the product discription given.

:fact: Asus P5W DH Deluxe LGA775 Core2 Duo ATX Board :fact:

I just couldn't see them using that description if the board ships with a bios that doesn't support c2d.
