Read this article first about the use and benefits of 4gb of ddr2 vs 2gb.

Now, I'm planning to finish my build around x-mas... Why not go with 4gb of ram instead of the common 2gb that we've moved to in current days?

The article I posted shows that 4x1gb vs 2x1gb is just as stable and overclocks just as much at the same timings (all considered 2T of course)

WIth the future coming up with Vista using 500mb ram and future games needing more and more RAM woudln't it be wise to go with two 2x1gb DDR2 800 kits for 180$ that can do pc-1066?

Whats exeryones thoughts and expereiences if anyone has used 4gb.

well the reason no one has 4 gigs is mainly b/c they dont need it. the only reason i have 2 gigs is for these new games. in a year we may need more than 2 gigs but until we really need it, no one will upgrade. 4gigs of ram is also alot for the memory controller to handle, thus dropping overclocking results.

As ripken204 says .. unless you got a reason to have 4GB its a total waste of money, think HD video editing or major Photoshop work. For now (and then) 2GB is enough. Xmas is a while away though .. but still i think 2GB be the standard for a while.

I never said 1gb is more than enough for everyone...i said that for me 1gb is enough, 2gb would be overkill and more than enough for ANYONE.

4GB should be for servers.

Want something exciting, go 4x512mb.
