EDIT: Removed "Woohoo" from thread title as I was informed by a certain member that this OC is not "Woohoo" worthy.
Well, I decided to try 1.6VCore n see what happened.
It booted into Windows @ 378x9! I had to set VMCH to +1 to get it there.
I ran Prime for an hour (I closed up all the intake vents first to get things nice and hot inside) and 3DMark05 ran fine too. The CPU tests in 3DMark05 usually bomb n reboot if things aren't stable. It handled it fine! I'm still only 1M Super Pi'ing at 15sec, was hoping 3.4GHz meant 14sec. Oh well. :)
The highest the CPU got was 52C and it idles around 34C.
I'm happy. This is where I wanted to be. 1GHz overclock. I think I'm done OCing. :)
For those who are awaiting their E6600/DS3 combo, here are my settings:

I'm curious about voltage scaling, how far can you go on stock volts and how many volts does it need for 3.3? Lower clockspeed might be more of a sweetspot.

3.3GHz needed only 1.5V and "AUTO" VMCH (for me anyway)
Also, I just tried 1.6V first, tonight I'll lower it, one step at a time, to see if I can get away with less VCore.
Congrats mate! And what amazing temps you got there! That's where I want to go with my E6600 when I get it.
PS: What's your cooling solution?
EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't notice it in your post at first.

I'm sorry but 3.4GHz with 1.6 volts is pretty bad.

My 6700 does 3.75 stable, and my 6400 did 3.6 stable with ease...both on air and both lower than 1.6v.
Better reset those expectations my friend. ;)

Tell me about it! If I could get it do it @ 1.325V, I would have!
I know it won't do it @ 1.55V, I know it will do it @ 1.6V. Tonight I'll find out what I can get away with.

My 6700 does 3.75 stable, and my 6400 did 3.6 stable with ease...both on air and both lower than 1.6v.

Hehe, did you have a retail E6600 on a DS3? Didn't think so. :)
I'm not saying this is a record by any means - but it's decent for the retail E6600.
I will remove the "Woohoo" from the thread title right now. I don't want to cause any problems here. :confused:

Give the guy a break, he had a lot of problems with his E6600/DS3 from what I've read. As far as running on 1.6V 24/7...I guess you'll be the one to tell us how it works out.

so in a situation like this is the processor simply the bottleneck, or is the motherboard preventing the system from going higher? Seems like lots of people are having their RETAIL processors cap out lower, in the 3.4 GHZ range.
Mine does 3.2 at 1.4375 volts. It won't post at 3.4 and 1.5 volts. Regardless, it's high enough for me.

its not your fault though thats the retail e6600's
my Step5 B1 ES does 3.6ghz @ 1.33v and after the droop it is 1.2x
400mhz fSB auto everything. vcore 1.33
pci-e freq 100. (not auto, auto is not good you need to manually set 100)
i sually set 1.35vcore though for 24/7 as i dont need any mysterious reboots. but 1.33 is 100% prime stable.

change that to 100 or 105 or even 110. leaving it on auto wont give you the best overclocking. as it will float around as you increase the fsb. lock it in at 100mhz where it should be.

I will give the PCI-E freq change another shot, but I seem to remember setting it to "100" broke my 3.2GHz OC.
And yeah, not too happy about the voltage, considering @ 3.2GHz, it only needs 1.45V. I may just continue to run it at 3.2GHz as my "sweet spot," I'm just glad I was able to get the thing stable @ 3.4.

I wish I could even get my DS3 and E6400RT to overclock. I runs fine at with memory running at 333mhz.:( :mad: Anything above 1mhz and it will just beep and shut down. I tried several suggestions like disabling certain stuff in the bios but that didn't help.:( It worked fine with my Presler 920D in overclocking.

if 100mhz PCI-e doesnt work try 105 or 101 or 110.
some boards, and this isnt a DS3 issue, its just random tidbits thru my experiences, some board need 101 to actually lock the pci-e bus.
typically though, if 1 ds3 need to do that then they all will and mine does need 101 or 105 or anything i lock it at 100 and way i go.
i can cold boot from 100% stock to 400mhz FSB in one bios reboot.
i dont need to do short hops or anything. i can make that big leep form 266 to 400 all at once. and it works every single time.
and its nice having one but the price we paid for them woah... much higher than retail.
with good ram the board will do 435x9 BUT i have to take a huge leap in vcore.
going from 3.6ghz to 3.9ghz just 35mhz on the FSB i have to go from 1.33v to 1.5v .
but the baord gets flakey.
if i can never ever go over 400 mhz im happy as i can be.
low volts.... runs cooler, high clocks i mena thats a 1200mhz overclock.
not too shaby considering im using nothing but generic black label samsung DDR667
this board is extremely picky about what ram you use. so be aware of that.

nice Brahmzy. but 1.6Vcore is a kinda high but if you got some decent cooling. go for it lol. and yes lestat its really picky on ram >.> i'm been worrying about the ram i choose when i get the DS3 board. i was planning on getting some DDR2 667 OCZ or Cosrair at 4-4-4-12 running it at 800Mhz or higher. then loosing the timing to 5-5-5-15.. wat do you think? lol

Dude I owned a S3 version of this board and was stuck at 3.15 with a vCore of 1.45 aswell... Now at 3.4vCore of 1.44 I can do EASILY stable 24/7 with the DQ6. Currently testing it at 3.6vCore 1.536 stable will be pushing it some more soon

I just wonder about those temps. 52C at full load with 1,6 v.
I have the same CPU, also ultra-120, MB is DS4 and I get 65C with 1,5v.
This is in core temp. In speedfan I get 10-15C lower. Which software do you use?
What fan do you have on your ultra 120?
And when you say VMCH = +1, I guess you mean +0,1, as you do with dimm. Correct?

DQ6...425x8=3.4GHz with 1.4V in bios, 1.360V actual. MCH and FSB set to normal. DDR2 voltage set to 2.0V, 4-4-4-12 @ 850MHz.

I keep all these enabled save for EIST, as it disables itself automatically upon overclocking anyways.
