nice result, but you may wish to edit your first post the 945 is 3.4ghz at stock as your x17 multiplier shows.

Also does the 945 clock better than the 950 due to the lack of vt, or is it the same, just with a feature removed?

Better clocking, lower power consumption and less heat. Benefits of C1 stepping. Probably has nothing to do with lack of VT.......but we'll see what coolaler has to say about it.

Is it only me that react to the third post showing a failed instance of SPi32M?
Problably heat related but impossible to verify when no temp-utility prog is running showing temps (nice to see for comparison) :)
In my dual systems it's always one of the cores that OC's more or less worse than the other one (sometimes Core0... sometimes Core1).

@Coolaler+other owners of D945

What is everyday limit for this CPU?
For 24/7 rendering?

I think D 945 has not EIST

4.51GHz, prime stable on zalman 9500, 265FSB

Dont know if my bottleneck is the chip or mobo - It's a 945p asus p5ld2 dual phase - i'm surprised it handles this, though I guess it's partly responsible for the 0.11v fall off on load. Boards the reason I upgraded to the 945 pentium d instead of a core 2. Figured I'm better off waiting for kentsfield and up

Only made 4.69GHz for a boot into windows once before it locked up. 4.8 is pretty sweet ;) Nice oc Cooaler!

That the intel 975x mobo? With a standard 945, you wont get any oc options right?

Also curious - was that an old bios, cpuz or is it the es nature of the chip that was causing detection to be a 950?

BY Old CPU-Z, D945 is detectd as D950, but thelatest ver reads it very good "D945"

Just picked a PD945 (I'll use it with a P5P800 SE) from the egg @ $164 shipped. Putting together a budget system for Printer and File Sharing Server. And will also be there for when I'm working my main rig...LOL I hope to run it around @ 4.2Ghz.

you should get 250fsb easy - just set the voltage to 1.4v manually if necessary.

@Nicepun

Please, be patient with P5P8ooSE, my old one BURNED, after 20h of rendering w/D805@3.2Ghz
mosfets were burned and mobo just died, like in a bad movie!
That is NOT mobo for OC at all, just diefolt stock Mhz!
And also every FSB over 200-220 is killing for P5P800SE.
If yu can purchase some chipper 945mobo for 70-100$

Nothing lese got ruined, just the mobo? If so, burn baby burn....LOL How was the case cooling?

okmijun
09-13-2006, 10:55 AM
Nothing else :)
Case cooling good to, (120mm/1400rpm+PSUfan140mm/1200rpm+90mm/1200rpm)
BUT...mosfet have been burning all day I didnt menioned that at all, until 10:00PM, everything become "cool&QUIET" :(
(too much power on bad mosfet, thats the reason)

damx man! ive been running my p5p800se for a year now highly oced and it has not had any problems even made my own vcore vdroop mod on it and working on a vdimm mod and vagp mod. its a very good board i got like 300mhz higher stable oc when i did the mod pm me ill show u pics of oc and show u how to mod it. very very nice mobo not 1 problem just go buy some cheap lil heatsinks for them and it clocks better to

okmijun
09-13-2006, 12:48 PM
yeah, thats all right, BUT w/P4 511?
D805 needs moooore power?
anyway, my died from nothing.

that is true but remember i was at 200 watts from cpu at 4.5ghz at 1.63 vcore so i think i was using the power pretty good. had it at 4.6ghz runnin semi stable with 1.64 vcore

I just got mine up and running. I'm using a Scythe INFINITY 5-Heat Pipes to cool it down. The processors runs pretty damn cooled. I'm waiting on better RAM but for now it's running @3.8Ghz with 1.325vcore set in BIOS. idles around 27c and around 42c @ full 100% load. I'm running 2xF@H for the next 24 hours. I have some PC4400 on the way and I also have some BH-5 but I'm waiting on the DDR Booster. Talk about old school...LOL Anyway this is my back-up/printer server/file sharing rig. I think it's a good price for $164.

how is this vs. conroe?

how is this vs. conroe?

Are you kidding? This thing is a resurrected presler. Did you see the 1m pi time? I'll have to say though, that what these presler chips lack in speed, they more than make up for in stability. I used to run my D940 at 4.6 Ghz 24/7 stable under WC on my Asus P5WD2-E Premium. My experience with conroe so far has not been anywhere near those of presler but that may be due to RAM. Pains me to get rid of my old setup for this one but I may hold on to it for a while. Maybe even setup a F@H rig with that one.

What vcore did you guys run to get to 4.5ghz? Will 1.475 be enough? Thanks.
