I want a Barton Chip with the extra cache but don't think my EPOX 8k3a+ mobo will handle it bcz it has a max FSB of 266 and the CPU runs at 333.

Does this matter ? Plus my mobo mem speed max's at 2700

Can you guys help me out with some suggestions?

Thx

That motherboard WILL support a 2500+, 2800+ and 3000+ Barton Core Athlon.

Just make sure you have PC2700 RAM, or faster(PC3000, PC3200, PC3500, PC3700).

Good luck

Confused....this motherboard says mem max 2700 speed...if I run faster memory, will it read faster than 2700?

a max rating on a mobo is the default rating only once you OC you will be able to utilize PC3000,3200 speeds 3500 would be a waste on the 8k3a about 205fsb is the max you can expect out of that mobo :(

I have no idea how to OC - so I will be using basic settings.

Get a NF7-S, great mobo for the barton and you'll get some dual channel Performance also.

Agreed. I've done a few Barton/NF7-S combos for gaming rig client builds... and they really rock n roll.
