I am a hardcore FPS gamer (UT2k4 and CS:S for life!!) and for a break I play a some RTS (BFME2, DoW: Winter Assault, WarCraft 3). I also play FEAR, Quake 4, FarCry, BF2, CoD2... well you get the picture. I used to play a lot of Diablo 2, but I just can't find a game now that I love as much as D2, BTW anyone ever think that Blizzard will make a Diablo 3 or StarCraft 2 (which I also still regularly play)?? I am looking for something new to break with. I have really wanted to play WoW, but I don't like the pay thing. I have Final Fantasy 11, but again I would have to pay, I haven't used the 30days free yet, the main reason I got it is because I was/am a big FF fan and got it for like $15 I have played a little SilkRoad and I like it, but for some reason GuildWars is calling me. To some people that own it, is it worth it? I like that it is free, but seems to compeat nicelly with WoW. Also I am woundering if Factions is worth it as well? I know it is not a MMO, but I have also thought about getting Fable, it is worth it as well?

I own the orginal GW not factions, and have enjoyed the game quite a bit. The game play has some improvements over the WOW system, and I enjoy being able to hop on and play PVP with out having to do the PVW campaign.
I think the major selling point for me was the lack of monthly fee to play. I dont feel obliged to play like i was with WOW, and inthe end it has been a very enjoyable game.

Dont get wow if youre even thinking of it, once you get to 60 its boring, even if you raid mc/bwl/aq (End game dungeons) the game is stupid. Iv played it for 1.5 years dont ask why why it was addicting but in reality its just a game about who has the most and best armor. The game is mainly gear Objective.

I have the same oppinion of WoW once you get to 60. spending hours upon hours doing instances gets boring fast.. especially when you have structure your life around instantance resets, and being commited to raiding - which if your in a raiding guild is pretty much mandatory.. or they will find someone else to take up your class spot. I'm sure there are other ways to play the game, rathher then hardcore raiding, ect.. but at 60 what is left, raiding and pvp..

if you like pvp. pve is crap. Be prepared to think a lot more. It really really isn't about grinding if you do pvp. It's very very quick. Spiking is the metagame when I left however it seems when I log on it still is. Quite fun. It's more overall skill based. Don't be a noob. Join a forum and find out how the metagame works. Otherwise you'll be stuck doing pve which is crap in about every way...

I think GW is fun as hell. I like co-op , but I hate, hate, hate retarded ass squad team :banana::banana::banana:. Henchmen make this game fun. My brother and I can get on, get some henchmen for support and play a satisfying mission in one evening. I heartily recommend it.

Awsome, I just picked up Game of the Year Edition today a little earlier, getting ready to install now. I am kind of excited, I haven't really been excited for a new game for a while.

Unfortunately, Diablo 3 was scrapped for a couple reasons. It is unknown if blizz will try again but they have their hands full with WoW. WoW is basically Diablo in 3-d and with more people anyway.
Guild Wars is a pretty good game. I played it for a couple weeks but I never got into PvP at all. PvP is supposed to be the best part of the game so I guess i missed out big time. Its not that big of a comittment either, as you just buy the game and dont pay a fee. If you can find it for a decent price, it might be worth a try.

Diablo 3 is out. Its called Titan Quest. Seriously if D2 was your favorite game then go pick up Titan Quest. It's what Diablo 3 would have been...

No, sorry I should have updated this, I got my code, the retailer forgot to put it in the case, nice. I have thought about Titan Quest, it looks awsome and I too have heard that it is very D2ish in feel. I am still thinking about Wow, GW is free which is nice, but to me WoW seemed better when I played it at my friends dorm.

I think it's the same for every MMO lol.

For me, the problem is getting to 60 in the first place... Every time I hit 45'ish levels, I get bored with the game, as Blizzard IMHO don't do enough for anybody else than the level 60s... Sure, they're constantly adding new quests and dungeons, but they're all for level 60!... Makes you feel a little let down when you're at lvl 45... :)
Best Regards :toast:

this game is terrible, and it not mostly the gameplay that makes it lame, its the people playing it. I have never played a game with so many perverted 10 yr olds in my life.

For me its about the money, GW is free online play, WoW and others are not.

If you choose to play games like that, then every RPG you play will suck.

Guild wars is best if you want to kind of take it easy, and think of it like a single-player RPG that happens to be online.
Find newbs to play with : People who have done the quests 10x always run through the mission as fast as they can and :banana::banana::banana::banana: and moan at ppl who don't wanna run through it with them. Those kind of folks spoil the experience for everyone who hasn't done the mission.
Finding a decent party can be hard. People always drop out or go afk-- and all that kind of stuff.
GW is fun, and the environment graphics are great. Wanna be power-gamers can ruin it for you though.

So far I am enjoying it. The gameplay isn't bad, it can be boring at times, running from one place to another, but that is a MMO for you. To me is seems a little more straight forward than WoW, it seems like a game that you might want to cut you teeth on to get used to the MMO enviroment, them maybe move up to WoW (or Warhammer Online when it comes out) when you get a feel for it. I do love the free play, no obligation if I can't play for a while. I also like that most of the quests seem pretty indepth, and the game itself has quite a bit of depth and emersion. I have to say though the thing I love is the enviroment, it is beautiful! I love WoW's kind of cartoony look, but I think for a MMO GuildWars looks amazing. There is only one downside to the looks; you have to figure I am playing at 1024x768 on a 15" LCD (I know), but I am playing everything maxed with 4x AA in-game on a LeadTek 6600GT. Which means when I finish my new computer I don't know how much better the game will look, execpt that I am getting a new LCD so I can run it a 1600x1200. Maybe I can force better AA or AS, I don't know.
I am thinking though about giving the WoW trial a shot, I am just scared I will get hooked on it and have to play every day. I have Final Fantasy 11 and I still haven't activated my trial because I am afraid I will get hooked and have to start paying, lol. Overall though I am loving GuildWars. You have to figure that it is my "take a break" game that I use to break from UT2k4 and CS:S. The problem is that I have to many games that I love, so I have to play them all, lol. I think if I got WoW it would suck me in and by the time I was done all my games would be outdated becasue Half-Life 10 would be out and it would be like 2020 or something. If that was the case I would also be about $2520 poorer, lol.

i just bought the game of the year edition yesterday. Really enjoy it so far. Currently running at 1680x1050, Settings maxed out and 4x AA. Still pretty much pegging fraps at 60 (vsync is enabled) Looks and runs very nicely. Cant comment a helluva lot on gameplay yet, im only lvl 3 and feel like ive just scratched the surface.
