Im just about ready to ditch my xp2200 and get something that overclocks properly. Ive got an unmodified KX7-333R mobo, 1 stick 512mb samsung pc2700, 550W psu and a half tidy water cooling setup. with my current setup I seem to be able to run stable at 188 fsb.
My question is which chip do i go with -
XP1700 JIUHB - £43.48
XP2100 AIUHB - £75.20
I should get a few £s for the xp2200 so im not really worried about the price difference. Which chip is more likely to give me the highest overclock (want around 2.5 gig if possible)

Probably have a better chance at hitting your goal with the 2100+, Another factor that would sway my decision would be choice production dates... I have a 2100+, and a 1700+, both 302, bought at same time to play :D ... My 2100+ hits the wall just under 2500 mhz, the 1700+ makes it to 2400 mhz or so before it hits the same wall.... My restrictions are cooling and memory right now. Haven't had the voltage above 1.8 for either, (my cooling is only a Volcano 9:( ). Since you have better cooling you may have a better chance of the 1700+ making it... But it still bottom lines to "Luck OF The Draw"...

I'd grab the 2100+

try to grab the 2100+. especially, if you can get the aiuhb 0301 stepping. friend of mine have reached nearly 2,7gig on water

If it's from me, the 1700+ clocks up higher than the 2100+. The 1700 will do 2.43Ghz with ease at 1.85v on a standard waterkit...
The 2100+ I cant get stable past 2.3Ghz...

i disagree.
i've wittnesed a 2100+ hitting nearly 2,7giga as mentioned above.. and the aiuhb stepping is rated higher than the jiuhb

Your friend must have a lucky 0301. That's about the worst week from what I have seen and experienced Mine will do only 2.3 at 1.95v which causes it to run pretty darn hot. Personally, if I were this guy, I'd try one of those new AXDA1700DLT3C JIUHB 0307 1700+s from Excaliberpc with the 1.5v default voltage that some guy got to 2.6 ghz on air at like 1.8v. Of course it looks like he's from Europe, so he'd have to find someplace else selling them.
Here's a link to excaliber telling about them

If I had $ to kill right now; I'd most definately try to land myself a 1700+ JIUHB 0309. 2.6ghz on air is $ick! :D

EdgarBaba - I've tested every cpu we have in, and all our 2100's top out at 2.3Ghz on water whilst the 1700s will do 2.4. Like I said...
If it's from me - ie: I know cos I've tried all the ones I have in stock.

You must of gotten an odd bunch of 2100+ check some of the threads on them, some folks are getting very close to the 3ghz mark with chilled cooling. A friend just managed to go through 20 or so 2100+ procs, his hand picked one from the lot of 302's ended up over 2.6ghz @1.8 on air. He mentioned that the average of the 20 or so tested was arounf 2.4, some hitting 2.5... Like I said mine quits at just under 2.5 ghz on air, once I get some h20 in the equation I expect i'll be able to better this mark. Haven't pushed my voltage yet, also due to the cooling issue.
Looking around the various forums and checking alot of threads on the 1700+ I've seen many of them top out around 2.2.. Looking at multiple results from various forums (including right here) the results are pretty clear, the average 2100+ does beat the average 1700+.... Bang for the buck is another matter. And as usual there are slow, and fast exceptions to the rule...

Yeah I know, was a bit gutted meself... but I did say If he was getting them from me... I wasn't talking about them in general...
I have a pair of 1700+'s running at 2.43Ghz at the mo (180x13.5) and a pair of 2100+'s that just won't even post above 2.35Ghz no matter what FSB / Multi combi... got me a bit baffled as I was plannin on finding a nice 2100+ to replace my 2400+ in me TEC rig...

Overall the 2100's are a safer bet for hitting higher overclocks withlower voltages/heat. The 1700's have been really weird thus far, some hitting really high with low voltages others needing 2.1 volts to hit 2100mhz. I have a 0302 xp2100 that does 2200mhz with defualt voltage, I tested over 20 xp 2100's from different weeks (0248, 0301, 0302 etc). I have also tested numerous xp1700's from different weeks. So far the 1700's on the average are quite a bit worse but today I picked up a 0309 XP1700, I will see what that can hit on my new NF7-S rev 1.2. I'm sure soon there will be 1700's that hit amazing like 2300mhz at default voltage, it's just a matter of time.

Well I currently have my 1700+ JUIHB at 2506MHz with no problems.... Haven't had chance to get near a 2100+ yet, but from what I hear they don't clock as high...
Just for the record...I have this speed on AIR...running a Thermaltake Volcano 7+.

I think the people dissing the 1700's, have'nt noticed that the good ones have the DLT3C stepping... There is a huge diferance between them, and the older DUT3C 1700's... Untill now I tried three of these newer ones, and they all did stock speed @ 1.06v, 1.8ghz @ 1.225v, and 2.246ghz @ 1.55v. I took two of them to close to 2.4ghz, and they seemed to run fine at 1.675v, but my cooling was not adequate to keep it there. I have also tried one of the older 1700's, and it would not even hit 2.1ghz! Out of two 2100's, one is almost as good as these better 1700's, and one tops out at 2.3ghz.
I have'nt really seen anyone get bad results with the dlt3c's, and I would imagine you stand as much chance to get a good overclock with them, as you do with a 2100. (though I have'nt really seen results of 2100's after week 6)

Sweet overclock, tc_overclocker! How does your CPU scale with voltage?

Wow, that's living large on air!!! Nice overclock...I wish I could manage for once to get a wonderchip sometime.
