Im planning for a raid0 (2 hd's) with a stripe size at 0.25*average file size on partition (haven't checked yet guess 256KB).

I wonder if it's possible to go with 64KB cluster (?max for XP?) and still be able to defrag?

Have seen some performance improvement when strip=cluster not sure though. Allthough loosing some storage space.

Defrag on XP - possible with any cluster size. Get third party defragmenters for a real defrag, though. Don't run them too often, waste of time.

As for speed, whenever the Windows cache is in the game, data is read in 64K chunks, except in very rare circumstances, thus, you should consider a clustter size of 64K, but rarely will a lower cluster size slow you, and stripe size = 64K / N, where N is the number of drives.
If it's RAID5/6, assume non-parity drives.
If it's not RAID0/5/6, not much talk should be into performance.
