I am wandering around at Newegg pondering the potential finest end-of-the-line coolers for Socket A. I found some interesting options:

AeroCool HT-101 70mm blue UV LED LED Light CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835183107)
COOLER MASTER Hyper 6+ RR-UNH-P0U1 100mm Rifle Bearing CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835103162)
Scythe Katana CPU Cooler 92mm Cooling Fan/Heatsink for both AMD and Intel (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185123)
Scythe KATANA SCKTN-CU1000 92mm CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185017)
GIGABYTE GH-PCU22-VG 2 Ball Blue LED Light CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835128003)

What do you guys think of these? Think there's any chance they could noticeably outperform my 'ol SLK800?

I cool a Barton mobile at 2800mhz (14x200) or 2750mhz (11x250) with 1.875v and 1,85v for latter, idle in this hot weather is 43C and Load is approx low 50's I aint seen it got to 55C yet (kinda rule of thumb max temp for guidelines).

Thermaltake Big Typhoon ot Sonic Tower. They come with K7 fittings.

I ran a Sonic Tower on my XP1700 for a while... with a Delta 190CFM,and got 200Mhz more clock.

i used the gigabyte for a while before i got water cooling, it does a great job even on the low fan speed, but i don't know about the others

Thermalright SI-97A (http://jab-tech.com/ThermalRight-SI-97A-pr-2999.html). Comes with Socket A mounting stuff, including a nice copper shim to protect your core.

Said it b4 and I say it again, 90mm cooling is in the past go for 120mm and after all you wanted best cooling for socket A well 90mm just dont kick it anymore, 140mm has started to appear with both heatsink and fans.

How the hell is a Thermalright 90mm heatsink the best socket A cooler (Have you tested it against others on a socket A rig )?.
I bet it couldnt keep my amd mobile barton cool unto 2.8gig with upto 500fsb with upto 1.875v. (I change depnding on what Im doing).

And to above peep the new Aerocool Dominator is 140mm but nobosy here has it yet so no idea if its good or not.

Please step out of your timewarp...

The two Thermaltake's I posted beat it into the ground. I've had all 3 heatsinks, and a lot more besides (XP90C, XP-120 with homemade SocketA bracket, SK7, SLK900U etc).

Yeah, it was a good cooler 2-3 years ago, but now? Get the Big Typhoon (best) or Sonic Tower (very good, and cheaper, I used one on a 1700@2.5, hit 2.9 (265*11) for a Suicide... the SI-97 topped out 2-300Mhz lower, 2623 IIRC)

i didnt want to make a new thread, so sorry about bumping this, but real quick question, is the xp90c still a good cooler or what. I own one on my x2 3800 and like it, but i am not confident if it is still a top end cooler.

For a 90mm fan cooler it's still top class.
How much vcore you putting thru the 3800+ and how is case cooling etc?

Oh, never seen 2.8 so I dunno :D
Happy with low 40's at 2.5 myself :)

Maybe room for improvements in case cooling?
