Hehe Asus cpu support for the conroes shows this,
http://support.asus.com.tw/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.B2) ALL 0801
Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.B2) ALL 0801
Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.40GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,rev.B2) ALL 0801
Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,rev.B2) ALL 0801
Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,rev.B2) ALL 0901
Yet when you click on the 0901 bios link it takes you to bios 0801.
I know some people were using x6800 retail here before bios 801 even came out.
Iirc bios 701 and higher should work with x6800.

I already called Asus...I spoke with a tech who is as baffled about the bios change as the rest of us. He has setup a ticket and they will communicate with their Taiwan partners for a reason behind this. I know the 0701 works with X6800 because a guy here posted his results about it. There is no offical release of the 0901 bios (http://rapidshare.de/files/27052520/P5W-DH-ASUS-Deluxe-0901.zip.html)at this time. And the change to 0801 doesn't appear necessary at this time (from what I am told from the Asus Bios dept). Just hold tight for 24 hours until I get some sort of response back as to what's going on.
I know the X6800 works with the 0701 here look (Courtesy of AndreYang (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=107060&highlight=x6800)):

well 0901 is working
Glad to see it you got it working :)
If 901 is only bios that will boot some retail x6800's then the asus bios game will continue for awhile as latest bios people have been getting from stores is 701.

Yes I know what you are saying Redpriest,Xgman and some other members here were using retail x6800's weeks ago on this board.
Maybe PcCI2iminal's cpu has something different with it that wouldnt allow it to work with the other bios versions.
Seems kind of odd that his cpu wouldnt boot with 0701 and 0801 but booted with 0901 *shrug*

The problem with this board and the retail conroes is that reseting and flashing the bios is extremely finicky. Often times it appears a dead cpu but only to work again with a battery removal, cmos clear etc, sometimes letting it sit for a while. There doesn't seem to be any clear reason, but if it doesn't boot once for whatever reason, it is hard to "jump start" it back again. For the x6800 retail, bios 701,801,901 work. using 801 now. They will NOT post any video with less than 701 bios. In any case very gltichy bioses.

vcore at 1.6v is risky in my opinion on water for 24/7. What are your load temps reported in the Intel temp progy? I have never seen such a build up in heat as when you start increasing vcore on these conroes, at least on this chipset.
