I'm looking for a new motherboard for my pentium d 820 and I figure I might as well get one with conroe support for future upgrades and the excellent oc ability for my current cpu. The problem is I have 4x512mb ddr2-533 and I have yet to find someone who has gotten 4 sticks of ram to work in a P965 mobo.
The two boards I'm most interested in are the AB9 pro (#1) and DS3 (#2). Has anyone gotten either of these to work with 4 sticks of ram? Is there another P965 board thats more likely to work? Does single vs double sided matter? Is this a chipset limitation or will this most likely be resolved in future bios updates? I can't imagine all these mobo manufacturers releasing boards with 2 useless slots on them, but I keep coming across posts about people having trouble using all of them.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Here are my current system specs by the way:
2x512mb HP branded DDR2-533 (micron chips)
2x512mb Ampo Branded DDR2-533 (Spectek chips)
Pentium D 820
Scythe Ninja
ECS 945g-m3
XFX 7600gt
VF700-CU
Enermax EG465p-FM EPS (35A on 12v)
NEC ND3550a
Seage 7200.8 250gb sata
