got it for cheap to use my Conroe. I'll be overclocking and don't have any other socket 775 fans so I'm using this. Do i need to upgrade with the quickness?

I would return it. You should have buy the Thermaltake Big Typhoon. It's 41 bucks at newegg shipped. If you want a good quality HSF, you should consider the Big Typhoon (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835106061) or the Zalman CNPS9500 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118223)

are there any concerns with these pulling on the mobo because of the weight? The typhoon looks nice

What mobo do you have?

You should have a little clearance with the Typhoon, and that's about the only concern.

Should fit fine. Order that Typhoon before it's price goes up!

actually i just realized my AlCu7000 will fit the socket 775 chips. SHould I cancel my order or is the BT that much better?

the TT:BT wil eat it up, and as a bonus, cool the whole area around the CPU. It doesn't scale that well with higher CFM fan's though, so unless the stock one does your head in, leave it on there.

You could swap the stock fan for TT's own 120mm SilentCat, it does move more air and its only a slightly more whirr noise outside case, inside you wont hear it, man I used to think my 90mm SilentCat was quiet, forget ratings as we know they are all made up from every manu, Ive actually got a TT-BT and the stock fan and then a 120mm SilentCat both are what you could class as very quiet, probably less so than my 2 Raptors idling., the air being sucked in from sides aswell as front of fan housing makes a big difference.

The fan is cheap and its white with white sleeving on wire, it looks nice when the UV light hits it. :)
