Memory Recomendation for DFI Expert.
What shall I buy? I'm going to get rid of the 2GB of OCZ Plat PC3200 C2 I have now to go in NF2 MB. Hopefully I can get somethign more suited for an NF4 MB.
I want something that is not going to burn out in a month though!

Definately go with the HZ. Mine do 285 at 3-4-4-8 and around 260 at 2.5-3-3-8. They OC the best on low volts, which is nice, because my board only goes up to 3 volts. 2.6 volts gives me the highest clocks.

Actually the HX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231034
and the HVhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231057
are binned highier and will probably perform better

Looks like the HX is rated the same as my OCZ, only it would Overclock a bit better...
That HV sounds promising though. So G.Skillz is where it's at right now then I guess.
Why is the HZ the most expensive? I'm pretty confused which one is best, I want the best one for my MB.
Will they all work at C2 speeds aropunf 200 FSB? I should be able to do more but I know I'm ok at stock FSB.

Hi, I have the HZ-series 2GB (the ones specified for pc3200) and my two sticks does 240 mhZ @ 2-3-3-5 so Im quiet happy with that
PS. I really suck @ latencies

nn_step which of these 3 is the best over all for the DFI Expert with Opty 165?

I vote HV

The HV memory is newer but according to this review I' not sure if it is better or not.
http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/G.Skill%20F1-4000BIU2-2GBHV/conclusion.htm
according to this review it will Overclock to about 260 with decent timings but will not go over.
The HZ is older and has looser timings but shoudl overclock to a higher FSB, but with worse timings.
They do say that the HV ends up being faster, but it sounds like the HZ is more flexable?
I'm guessing the HV uses Infenion chips? it appears the HZ is using Samsung chips. So which is really better?

They use Infineon CE-5 chips and they do wonderfully low latencies.
Remember low latency ram is more important for AMD than clock speed.
It is not a problem to use a divider with AMD processors

Yea I havent messed with the dividers since right now my C2 won't OC even 5 MHZ without loosening the timings and losing performance. I have infineon chips right now and they really don't like to OC at all, so I'm skeptical to buy them again.
So thats why the HV wins in benches and HZ in OC.. Now then, is the HV worth $20 more? I mean it's not like going from C2.5 to C3, its only slightly faster....It's not much money so I'm assuming it is?
I need my opty 165 to be at 2700 MHZ with a divider.
Would I get better performance with PC3200 C2 than PC4000 @C3?

DDR-400 @ 2-2-2-5 == DDR600 @ 3-3-3-8 (aka PC-4800)
So latency wise the PC-3200 cas 2 would have lower latency. and you don't need the extra bandwidth (provided of course your run Dual channel)

So you recomend I just get another 2 sticks of the same thing that I have now?
From my understanding the Timing Difference between the two g.skillz spec wise is not nearly as significant as cas latency. But if what I have now is better I will stick with it, otherwise I would like to run some benches before I hand my memory over to use in an Asus Nforce2 MB.

I wonder if I will have any luck getting the HV memory to do that! Maybe I should stick with HZ...:slapass: I'm so confused...:slap:
I thoguht Infineon chips sucked at overclocking and were made to run at their default speeds...Thats 1/2 the reason I was looking for something new.
But C2 @ 240 sounds amazing!

Well I went with the HZ after seeing the amazing results everyone was getting here with it, plus reading about a 3d bug with the infineon chips.
Well it was a big mistake, this memory sucks. I can't get it to even run C2.5 @ 225 mhz. It won't run C2 @ 200MHZ and it gives lower 3dmark scrores than I was getting before when running at it's default speed. It only runs at it's default speed after I increased the voltages...
Now I have to sell these sticks at a loss once again.
I'm thinking to just buy two more OCZ PC3200 Sticks since I know they are decent compared to this crap.
Warning for others looking for PC3200 1GB sticks, stay away from G.skill HZ memory. Now if you have an intel and need the extra FSB I guess they are ok at best...
Wasting all kinds of time and money now :(
