To be honest..no they dont have anything better to do.
My mother sell strawberries at summertime.

And EU want her to measure the berries in this little plate with different holes in different sizes so that they would fit the EU norm before selling.

I think we have EU to get a alot of high paid jobs for doing nothing at all.

actualy read the article.

atm there havent been any complains but the EU has the idea that in the licenses of both there are some things wich are against EU law.
Like there will be NO HD-DVD and Blue-ray hybrid drives.
As them licenses seem to state that if a company plans to make a hybrid drive sony and toshiba can pull the license etc.

atm the EU is checking both licenses to see if their ok this to be ahead of things.

Need I mention the whole net neutrality fiasco thats going on in the states right now.

Don't complain about the EU making sure businesses comply to their own laws, because currently the US is in a deep pile of doggy doo when it comes to technology laws:slapass:

wow, the EU just lost all possible reason

why?

Like common Blu-ray and HD-DVD cost both of them alot of cash and is therefor important to them. Besides that the winner of this fight between he 2 of them is shure to get alot of cash in the future from sales.
So you can predict that both of them will do alot to make their standard a success. They both will try to use the laws to their limits and maybe even try to break 1 or 2 of em if they think they can get away with it and if it promotes their format.

the EU has 2 choices.
Either they check up on Sony and Toshiba now or they wait till the war between both is over.
If they wait till the fight between th 2 is over and they go and check if one of them broke the law in their fight its kind of late to make them correct that.
Now they simply check their license stuff before the big fight breaks lose so that they know it will be a fair fight.

Companys know the EU laws upfront but that doesnt mean they always follow them so if they get caught when they do it its normal and not the EU being asses.

there's nothing wrong with the EU's move here. they did what they should have done. i wish our government could be this pro-active. then perhaps we wouldn't be in danger of losing net neutrality. the internet hangs on a very fine line right now and no one seems to care.

Even if EU won't, HVD will kill both by making them obsolete. :toast:

Their logic isn't really explained so it's hard to comment. IMHO goverments shouldn't be cracking down on a developing technology like that...
