Enhanced CrossFire™ Support

This release of Catalyst® introduces Enhanced CrossFire™ Support. The enhanced support allows for CrossFire™ Alternate Frame Rendering mode for Direct3D applications to be forced on by setting the Catalyst® AI slider to the Advanced position. This enhancement is available for all Direct3D applications except for Direct3D applications known not to work with Alternate Frame Rendering.

Get it from ATI (https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=293)
You might wanna try NET Framework 3.0 also from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8D09697E-4868-4D8D-A4CF-9B82A2AE542D&displaylang=en#QuickInfoContainer)

A few things from solved problems:

# Oblivion: Enabling CrossFire™ and setting the display resolution to 1600x1200 no longer results in the game failing to respond when task switching under the Windows XP operating system. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-22790

# Quake4: Texture corruption is no longer noticed when playing the game. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-22782

# Installing an ATI Radeon® X1900 CrossFire™ master edition graphics card and and ATI Radeon® X1900 series secondary product on a system using a Dell 2405FPW and enabling CrossFire™ no longer results in the display device losing a signal or the 3D application or game exiting back to the desktop. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-22664

# Installing an ATI Radeon® X1x00 series of product on certain nVidia Nforce 4 platforms no longer results in the operating system failing to respond or the operating system exhibiting general instability when running 3D applications. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-22378

crossfire w/o master? For the low end ones?
Or was that just a rumor?

Hmmm...

Had to restart my system after I tried to enable crossfire after getting a message, from memory: "You must restart your system in order to fully match the capabilities of your cards" or something of the sort. I remember Ati's solution being praised precisely because, unlike with SLI, you didn't have to restart the whole system to enable or disable it... :stick:

It's safe to say that Alternate Frame Rendering unleashes the power of my X1900 Crossfire setup. I installed the 6.7 without any problems and went straight to playing BF2. I get almost a 30 FPS INCREASE versus 6.6 at the exact same BF2 settings. I remember reading something about Alternate Frame Rendering a while back for SLI users and their noted increase in FPS. If you game and have Crossfire, the 6.7 are definitely worth it.

You are a lucky guy. That rig of yours is already ahead of 99.9% of the computers out there.

Oh yeah, and BF2 is an awesome game.

Anyone know if the performance increases we saw going from 6.5 to 6.6 still exist? Nothing performance wise has been lost in these new drivers?

One thing i have noticed is that the CCC load time is much faster, there are very few delays and it feels much quicker. That always seemed like a complaint to many ppl.

You don't need atitool to overclock anymore. I run my card at 729/863 using rivatuner's clocking ability. Uses no resources and works just like CCC overdrive does. Just adjust your bios 3d voltages using Rabit and your set...

sorry to bring up old news, but do you think someone with x1900CF could give us a little mini review (or at least post numbers) on the new catalysts so we can get a good idea of how much it improved fps in games that CF struggled with when it came out. i just found out i can get an x1900 master card for 180 bucks, but i want to see if its worth buying the card and getting a new mobo
