I bought a Voodoo PC, but used, for $2k (and it was only 3 months old). I highly doubt they sell many of those. It's a real gold case, most probably just plated, but IMO, the gold case is ugly. Brushed aluminum is much nicer. :)

the whole elemental line is plated with 24k gold. thats whys it so expensive:fact: but i would rather have the thermaltake armor over that thing.
but the free t-shirt evens it out. mabye i will get one just for the conroe and the t-shirt and junk the rest:D :D :D :D

I think Voodoo does make nice PCs, albeit way expensive... The wiring job they had done on my PC really was quite impressive. And on my laptop they put on a custom graphic that I sent into them. The laptop was painted the base color, the graphic applied on printed vinyl, and then the whole thing clearcoated...

I don't think anybody here disagrees with the fact you can build a WAY faster computer for a small fraction of the price... Sometimes it is hard to replicate all the little details that Voodoo puts into the PCs.

I dunno if I'd ever buy a new Voodoo directly from them again, but I would probably pick up another used one, gut the damn thing, and put my own parts in there.

It's been confirmed by Voodoo!

We here are Voodoo Computers are proud to display to you the new Elementals OMEN...the one and only PC that costs us nothing to build, $8000 to order, and $12000 to ship to you. Plus, you even get your very own FREE copy of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. That's a $50 value that's yours for free!

Haha. Just kidding.

Give me ten grand and I'll take 9,999.75 of that and build a better PC. The rest will cover the T-shirt. Sorry, local pickups only :D

If you don't overclock, that system'll run fine on a 600W PSU.

perkam
07-29-2006, 11:17 PM
I'm going to start removing this bs over viability of the psu. I could care less if its the best 600W psu around...a 750W psu costs less than $200..not too hard for a 22k machine...

"But its enough for the machine, though"

You don't buy a 22k pc to get "enough"...if that was the case they'd have a 7600GT in it.

think rolex...

I think this just about sums it up. I doubt very many people buy Rolex watches or similar just so they can tell the time .. I think they buy it because of the feel good factor and the statement.

In regards to the actual PC here I would imagine it is a good peice of equipment but with DX10 cards about to make an appearance in a few months time I think anyone buying this now would have to have been living in a cave for a good time. Maybe they do though, maybe this is for people who just see it in exclusive magazines and must have it. They won't even know the difference between DX9 and 10 when it arrives nor care. It would be pretty interesting to see the buyer demographics for these systems.

I'm not sure about the gold though .. does anybody do carbon fibre panels over aluminium chassis? .. that might be quite nice to put your own stuff into.

Regards

Andy
