Can I turn on my PC without a CPU?

another dumb question, i bought a celeron to use until i get my conroe, can i turn on my computer without a cpu in?

yes you can it just will not pass the post test.

I walways do this to avaid killing a processor due to faulty motherboard.

well, i just put the 24 pin connecter in, the light on the board came on, and i also put the 4 pin connecter in and it did not turn on
