Is it possible to build a phase change but its modified so the unit sits on top of the case? The only modification on the case would be to drill a hole on top instaed of the regular bottom hole.

Nice:) Exactly what i have in mind.
All the Vapo PE/XE etc were up tutn top
Also Gray Mole is doing one in the top of a case currently too!

Yup ^^ That's for MeltedDuron.

yea for me! hehe i actually believe that it is slightly better up top seeing as you get gravity helping you so there is less liquid returning to the compressor. aren't you planning a unit on top of your case too NoL?

Top works fine. Only thing I would be worried is top heavy case :) ---> have to worry about earthquake in sunny califronia lol.

Yes, I'm currently running with an SS on top of my p180 case. It's a unit made by Pazza316 of these forums, and when I get my arse in gear I shall post some results etc.

Also the addtional fact your way long over due for one!!!

amen to what jin said. I have some heavy things on top of my case, it makes it very easy to nock over. And if your compressor falls like that the piston will very likly nock it self off the springs and the compressor is toast, you cant realy shake them or flip them. One false move and your ss is toast =/

I have my system wedged between furniture to avoid accidents like that, just need to get a caddy with wheels on it to make move in an out easier.

and what about oil not returning back in the compressor, pooling in the evap and suction line? isnt this a bigger isue?
thx
PS: if any1 is comunicating regulatly with Johann pls tell him to respond to my PM!

I think his been busy with repair job. I will tell him :")
As for oil return, our small system is not subjected to such problem as much unless oil puddles in evaporator. You gotta keep in mind those walk in chillers have suction lines that goes 10-30ft easily, have massive suction size, and have pretty decent evap height below where condensing unit is at. Now, those, you might have to worry. But for our units, it isn't too much to worry about. (still having U bend somewhere will help even minimal amount :P and reduce vibration transmission)

Internal gas volocity pushes the oil back, so if it can pool there is a far greater problem at hand then the pooling its self.

can you put one of these systems inside of your case, aside fro mthe room issuse, or does it have to be contanted outside for humidity or some reason?

yes, that's what MeltedDuron's is here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99128)

My only worry would be the effects of the compressor vibration, and I not talking about the lines.some are worse than others. The whole case will have a vibration carried thru down to pc case. Be sure to use good vibration isiolators, or to much vibration can affect the reading and writing of data on the drives, just something to keep in mind. Also keep in mind electric motors create madnetic feilds, to close to a crt monitor and you will have distortion.
