Read through the guides(well, Ssilencer's), and it's great, but I have a few Q's before I get crackin!

1. Being Socket A has a 'hole' in the center, I'm sure I'll need to put grease/liquid tape in there, but should I lay in a piece of insulation as well?

2. What is the importance of the liquid tape around the socket? just thicker to trap the air under the socket?

3. What thermal compound is best? Didn't think Arctic Silver5 would be used, as I don't see anyone use them in their pics.....

4. Umm, anything else you guys think I need to know?

Thanx much...

what cooling you using? you should definitely use the insulation in the socket, and grease in the pin holes, if you have liquid tape, use it to make under the socket airtight (paint around in between the pcb and socket. also use grease in the pinholes and on the components surrounding the socket on the front and back of the board. Arctic ceramique is the TIM of choice for most subzero cooling users, as it doesn't seperate at low temps (AS5 does) Hope that helped

oh, i'm having a little problem finding 'liquid tape', now, the guys at Lowe's may not understand what im looking for, is there a brand i should look for, or a more technical name?

no problem, nice jinu v2000 mod, as you're using a chilly1 evap, you can also use a bit of grease on the foam donut where it touches the board (you might want to cut it down to size so it isn't too squashed up, because that hinders its insulation properties.
Edit: It's called conformal coating, or liquid electrical tape. if they don't have that silicone sealant will work too, but it is more pernamant. Quite a few people use nail varnish, but thats not asthetically pleasing in my opinion. if you have access to none of them and dont want to use nail varnish on your board theres always dielectric grease (or vaseline)

nevermind, found the liquid tape, Lowe's stopped carrying it... :/ Home Depot had some, score!

i'll start when my friend gets here(he has one too, i'm the guinea pig), and i'll update hopefully in the negs!!

well, all did not go well....seems the insulation process killed my mobo :(

dosn't post, just looks at me with a blank screen, very sad...

tried 3 processers on air to no avail

on POS hp :(

VapoLi still looks pretty tho :D

First dielectric grease

Second, a piece of armaflex or neoprene

lol, well, uh, thanks ssilencer, but, alas, a bit late

and actually, i did exactly as you posted, but like i said, mobo now dead :(

will wait for new build before i can use it, done with socket-A

glad i didn't order that Gainward 7800+, whew
