I'm curious to know how much approx. each additional folder (running 24/7 @ say 1800 mhz) should cost in terms of electricity?

I know costs are different throughout the USA and world, but I would like some input on how much everyone is paying, or how much you think each full time folder costs per month.

(I need this info for any more farm upgrades ;))

I've got a meter i got at radio shack, You plug it in the wall, then plug whatever into it. digital readout, put in what you pay per KW/hour. Tells you what it costs to run, how many watts it's using also.

Lets see my Electric bill has went up $50-60 on mine per month. 10 rigs, 2 of them dual rigs. so 12 cpu's to run, But then i got a vapochill at the same time. But them i stopped running a 226 watt Tec all the time too. Hard to figure.

It's a lot easier on me if i dont worry about it!!

100 watt lightbulb 24/7 acording to my meter takes $5.89 per month to run. Your computer only uses what's needed, 300 watt PS doesnt use 300 watts.

The monitor is what sucks the juice down. I run XP pro on all of them and just connect through remote desktop if i have to make changes.

They have these meters in stock at most radio shacks $29.99

On the plus side, im using less heating oil now!!!

We've talked a little about tax write offs, since they are donated, but proving is the problem.

thanks Tedinde,

So about $10 per folder/per month would be a good estimate?

I just got my bill from last month and by my estimate... it's about $12 or $13 per rig...

Like Tedinde said... I'd rather not think about it. ;)

About $15 a rig here due to I run 2 phase change units 24/7 with 2 air cooled rigs. :)

dunno - i don't pay for electricity and my farms are at office complexes hehehe - easier to hide costs that way.

Oh no.....this thread is depressing me! My rent (2 bedroom apt, everything inc) is going up $100 a month because of my high power bill :(
I have 3 folding boxes.....about to add a 4th.

You might want to look into the lease agreement because they cant just up your rent due to a high electric bill!!

Crazymofo, off subject but in your Avatar I noticed you have the front fork stand for your bike. What brand is it, how much $, and do you like it? I have a ZX12, will it work on mine, clear the faring?
Thanks,
Nate

I wished i live near a dam so i could generate the electricity from the flowing water.

Depends on where you are too. Im in delaware USA, electric here per KW is lower than most places, People in California pay almost 40-50% more per KW/hour. Got my Aunts computer folding out there for me, And she noticed electric up a little since.

Seems like electricity is cheap in the US. How much do yopu pay for 1 KWh?

Here in Belgium: ~20$/€ to power one machine 24/7 for one month.

I currently pay 12.2116¢/kwh from 7am to 11:30pm and 5.6595¢/kwh from 11:30pm to 7am.

I may go to night only crunching pretty soon to save a bit on the wallet but I dunno... I like(or used to like) distribute computing too much for that. ;)

I will have to look what my rate is....I know its cheap as hell. I live near a nuclear plant LoL. My electric bill is very cheap & this is yet another arguement for duallies. I run my main rig, my duallie, & XF4 at home. My other 2 rigs are my work PC's. :)

17.52¢/KWh here in Belgium.

I need to get my rig running on solar power. :)

I pay about $.085/kWh

Actually, monitors use less power than you think. At a white screen, my 21" uses about 100w of power.

I figure that my computer uses about 100W steady as well, putting me at 200W maximum steady power consumption.

.200 * 24 * 30 * $.085 = $12.24

My monitor is off about 12hrs a day, so this number is a little high.
