I got a vapour LS in yesterday to fix and needed to see whats wrong with it.
Are there any little tricks to get it running without connecting it to the PC.
Ie a wire trick?
:D

The chill control's molex power plug... to keep it from shutting down... :P
Oh if you don't have chill control... not sure... -_-;

can i use the chill control's molex power plug... to start it up,
i just want to fire the cooler up.
Any pics would be nice if ya got them.
ill check when i get home if theres a chill control.

all i want to do is see if compressor runs.
I have to add access vales to the compressor and didnt want to go ahead and do that if the compressor is dead. xtra work.

Yes there is 2 mobo pin like things.
one is pw-sw (power switch) which you jump for 2 seconds to start unit up
any longer it might turn off display which is it's next option.

All I do is disconnect the compressor from the chillcontrol board and hook it up to mains, disconnect the fans from the chillcontroll board and hook it up to 12v transformer, and you have a running system without a controller to annoy you while working on the cooler.

thanxs for that.
seems that its only a 8.5cc rev compressor in these coolers:mad:
i though it was going to be the nf11

To avoid the compressor shutting down when rebooting I also use an extra PSU.

I have just added an old power button the the 2 pins Dumo has marked. then you can also use the other options.

What do you think about the noise it makes kayl?

And how big a compressor would there be space for? :)

Kayl the mach range has nl11f you may be confusing with that, the vapo range on the other hand has FR8.5 compressors which in short sucks. They are extremely loud as you wil hear and not very smooth atall. I have a couple here that I pulled out of vapos and I cant use them because I cant think how anyone could listen to that noise.

I tend to use them in fridges mostly

Ahahahaha...
In case of US, it will be NF5.5(!!!)... bit scarey if you asked me.

at least they are made for the refridgerant used in those systems:) and the pressure's

Ehehe... I guess :P but compressor running 78c under 150w do worry me.

Why should the compressor die from that?

Re-read the the OP in this topic

Kayl makes heads, custom builds, mods, fix's anyhting phase

The unit came to him not working. Vapo is gay and uses 12v so he had to find a way to fire it up. he did what i would of done check with some other experst to be 100% sure

The fault seams a dud compreosr which happens

fin!

Is That a Dc compressor? Kayle you can meter the resistance thru the windings and check for shorts. If you had a megger you could test the insulation on the windings too,

When you say its dead, does it not run or does it not have any compression?

wdrzal... it's ac compressor... probably Fr8.5 for their designation... (or nf5.5clx).
I think someone got confused between molex plug for LS's board to detect computer on vs vapo XE, PE's 12v designation.

it runs for a few seconds then stops. i havnt measured it though.
its a r404/507 compressor 220v -240

Yeah i think its the Fr8.5, quiet little compressor when it did run.

When you put load on that "quiet" little compressor it turns into a noisy monster, the noisiest 1/4hp compresso I ever heard

finally got the chance to get to the refrigeration store today to pick up the new compressor.
idle -58c and load at -35 or so with a 160W resistor load
I cannt monut this on my 775 as no mounting holes to bench with.:(
so no benches, sorry guys.

i managed to power it the way dumo said.:toast:
seems that ls probe is out a little;)

cant wait to see his system benching
at -49c the vapour LS read -60.
the colder it gets the more the probe reads out it seems.
