Sending Bios Chips Through the Mail

Make sure to include the BIOS chip, your name, mailing address, daytime phone number, motherboard model number, version of the BIOS you would like flashed and payment to the address below.

:fact:

I wouldn't mind if this was an issue of it being my fault but the board doesn't support C2D why am I paying again for the proper bios chip? I guess if you are an AMD cpu holder you are in for some problems.

Call them on the phone if possible and ask for an RMA.

That may change their tune .

wait.... the 0502 DOES boot a Stepping 5 B2 E6600 ES

whats wrong with yours man.?

and call them up they will send you out a chip.
if they dont just go goofy on them telling them you paid for a conroe board and you got jack squat.
they are selling C2D boards and they are flalsy advertising them and how would they like it if you started a internet wide action to get people to stop buying them.
i mean thats pretty harsh i really dont see why they wouldnt send you one and even tell them im happy to send mine back to you but i aint paying for your false advertising and blunders. i've already paid twice what the board is worth wtf would i pay more for.

frankly dude you need to return that board and get yourself the gigabyte board or wait for DFI.

they are responsible for fixin gthis screw up and i believe that is why they were pulled, or rather swiftly disappeared off store shelves after the 2nd shipment.

see.. this once again backup what i have said for a long time.
they dont test these friggin boards for squat.. there is no way they can otherwise this sh|t wouldnt be happening

it's just yet another automated "cut&paste" answer.

Most of the online reps are dumb and don't read half of the mail.

Call them.

i think calling would get you the same response... unless you asked for a manager or someone that actually knows "something," at least, about computers.

Man that is just harsh, you buy the motherboard, and then get this cheese on a stick "pay for a new bios chip" crap :slapass:
Call them and tell them you will start some petition/action/lawsuit , i'm sure they will get off their lazy asses, damn, maybe they will even add the 7950 vid card support to the Asus board. lol

I think DFI might be in a little hot water soon over Conroe support

I have been told by a certain support engineer @ DFI that their Infinity 975X/G boards on the market ATM dont even support/work at all when using step 6 (retail) Conroes, hows that for jumping the gun :nono: :slapass:

Back in the NFII days with DFI I got 2 bios chips for free, I don't know but I bet Asus is a bigger company so they should be able to afford that?

Hey guys, I don't know why they want to charge you but ASUS Uk didn't charge me :toast:. I got my new bios today, a nice technician at ASUS Uk posted it yesterday and it arrived one day later :woot:. He was very nice about it! Did you explain to them that the board doesn't work with the C2D? I suggest you try emailing this person... portia_chang@asus.com.tw, I told her that I got her email address from Overclockers UK (So she knew I was in the UK, thus giving me a UK contact) (Tell her that you're in the US). They will definitely give it for free, email her! Good luck :toast:

Its easy enough with a Celeron processor. They need to setup some kind of a deal with a national retailer. Just take it in and they will flash up for free.

Some people do not want to pay for a chip (or borrow) just to flash the BIOS. Especially one thats listed as Conroe ready in the first place.

u can flash it with a floppy or usb, u only need a pc to download the file from.

also OCUK have noted on their site that the mobo wont ship with a conroe ready bios

That would require the actual board to post ;) You can not flash the BIOS if the PC will not turn on. This is not as simple as it was back when I got my X2. It just came up as an unknown processor and only 1 core worked until I flashed the BIOS. But at least it came on.

Thanks guys, I finally got through to her and she is shipping it today. All I had to pay is shipping cost. You either pay $5 for ground or $20 for overnight.
Call 502-995-0883 then hit 0 for the operator and ask for the bios dept.
If you don't reach her leave your name and direct phone number. She says they do return calls.

I jsut used a small screwdriver like a jewelers one and pry it up from under a corner. Use two opposite corners and go a little at a time one each. It comes out very easy.

Also, I got an email reply from her. This is it:

"Thank you for choosing Asus Motherboard.

Riz, our engineer, will help you with Bios Chip.

Regards,

Portia "

Whatever that means:rolleyes:

Thanks for posting. I ordered one even though I feel they should have supplied them freight prepaid for P5W DH owners.

It's always a good idea to have a spare BIOS chip.

I totally agree. It says on box and in manual that Conroe is supported! With my bios 0401 that it shipped with, its not supported.

I'm not sure what to think. My chip says 0502 but it looks like the company I purchased it on ebay opened it but none of the accessories. Possible for flash? Lol at crappy return policies. Its better to go through Asus. Not only does it state you have 1 day to determine DOA it also says it can be 8 weeks for a replacement.
