ds3 problems

i just got a ds3 and i have a E6300 ES steping 5, i have 2gb's of g.skill zx memory, an x1800xt 256mb, and 600watt power stream. before i got this mobo i was using a 304 bad axe.

minutes before i installed this mobo i was running this identicale setup except with the bad axe perfectly.

now i dont know what bios i have so my first question is, does the ds3 boot with c2d out of the boxe?

when i turn the computer on it instantly turns off then after a few seconds turns back on. now this happened wiht my bad axe except after the system with a ds3 turns back on it stays on for a few more seconds then turns off again and continues this untill i pull the plug. the badaxe after one turn off and then back on would continue to post.


has this happened to anyone ? it doesnt seem like the mobo is broken, i think its the psu. what you guys think?

try clearing cmos

the turning off and on again is a feature thing to reset the cmos if its overclocked too far.
but it should jump right into the bios.

the motherboard doesnt come with the regular 3 pin cmos reset it only has a 2 pin.
so. grab a jumper from something and short out the cmos reset for about 30 seconds then remove the jumper.
plug the psu back in and it should boot up ok.

i always clear the cmos on a system prior to first boot up incase there is something wacky from the factory.

other than that this board is pretty straight forward.
dont forget when your in the main bios screen to hit ctrl-F1 and then it will show the hidden overclocking features. which is nothing more than CAS timings, hard drive smart, and a few other little things that you wont use.
i will say the voltages are totaly retarded on this board, there is absolutely no way to verify what voltages you are setting prior to using some sort of windows application like the easy tune 5,, which btw doesnt work for me.

try resetting the cmos.

the bios mine came with and i just got it yesterday was the F1 bios and my ES 6600 booted right up.
go grab the F3 bios off their website and put it onto a floppy. then when your in the bios hit F8 fo the easy flash thingy
update the bios reboot when its done then use the load setup defualts, reboot then go into the bios and start messing around.

i am enjoying the board so far although it does, for some reason feel slow... not sure how else to explain itother than it feels slow...

nah i did clear it. then tried a new psu but the board is dead. it was so young... :( :(

i thought maybe it was an issue with bios needing to be updated or something that i didnt know about the board.:p:

slow in... hhmm... mouse isnt responsive...
things seem to hickup or stall momentarily once in a while for no reason.

i was just installing my audigy drivers and my mouse all all jumpy and jittery... that never happens.

something tell me the usb is goofy...

Well my ds3 just died,used new power supply,cpu,v/card,left battery out over night,shorted cmos,still dead.
Also this board would not work with my G.Skill 2GB DDR2 ZX PC2-6400,had to use my old ddr2,strange!

I got the same problem the first time. it's like its a shorting problem or something
took everything apart and reinstalled and it works like a charm. Was a bit weird not getting used to the system shutting down everytime you play with the bios though since I never went through that with my amd boards

I'm having the same problem with my gskill ram (F2-6400PHU2-2GBNR) and this mobo.

:(

The only way i can get it to boot with the gskill is to run it with an old stick of slow crucial memory and then it runs fine (no memtest errors).


:( :( hope this issue can be fixed, or it looks like I have just wasted £135.

I believe you just have to edit the memory timings manually and it should be ok. The board doesnt correctly recognize the memory timings with certain G.skill models. (Sounds like a G.skill problem but they are blaming gigabyte from what i hear)

So if you boot with another stick of ram, set the memory timings, and then put in the g.skill i think it works. Or if you boot with the g.skill + other ram it works too, from what i hear.

I got a dead ds3 too, but I rma'd for the asus p5b.
