Ok, I wanted to create a poll to see what new C2D ready boards are simply dying. Lets keep modded MB's out the poll for obvious reasons.

 I don't see the poll.

Wow, when I created the thread I didn't know it was going to post, I was still making the poll. Maybe an admin can adjust that? You know, to no make a post/poll officially post until you created the poll first???

Someone knock me out, i dont' want to see the reality of failures :slapass:
:D I guess i'm just freaking out since i ordered the 6800 and still didn't decide 100 percent on a motherboard, although i'm leaning towards the Bad Axe 304

Big difference between simply dying or not working properly. Poll only gives the dying option.

I think he means die on you, as in, die when it was in your possession. Not die beforehand...

:slapass: if I am wrong...

The Asus board comes in at no suprise, I've bought nothing but pure crap from Asus and MSI the entire lifespan of my Pentium 4. Each Asus board lasted about 9-11 months and I did 0 overclocking on them. the MSI board was generally garbage and I suggest everyone stay away from them.

Maybe you should leave out "extreamly overclocked" boards out of the poll as well. I don't get how people can push their hardware to the limits and then complain and :banana::banana::banana::banana: about when it dies on them. Why do you think those warnings are there when you start to overclock or read the manual? Up the voltage out of recommended specs and you can't be shocked and shaken when the board dies IMHO.

No one cares about that. This is an overclocking site. We want to know which boards can be pushed to the limit without breaking for no reason.

nope, I am leaving it as is. If I changed it on every whim of thought suggested it will eventually confuse everyone. Honestly dude, I cannot help how you comprehend information. The point of this poll is to see what boards are dying. I also posted to leave modded board out the equation. Not everyone is running phase and LN2. Even none C2D MBs have been able to last much longer then some of these newer boards last at stable regular clocks. So, that's really not an issue at this time. If it turns out that it is then the poll can be adjusted to compensate for it.

However at this time, I believe the poll is "good enough" to collect data regarding longivity of these new C2D MBs.

But that's misleading. There is a reason for the "breakage" and the phrase "for no reason" implies stock useage. Maybe it would be better if you changed the title and the poll to say boards that are not holding up with x amount of overclocking. No reason means you are using the board in the manner in which you recieved it, within the specs of the parts as listed from the component manufacture, in this case Intel.

A large part of todays MB features are overclocking. Now if your doing the hardware vmod thats a different story.

Right but you are still taking the components out of spec. All I'm saying is that if you up the voltage to the MCH you should be amazed if something dies. But again... I just think that the title is misleading and these topics are having effects on other boards as well. The rumor mill on this stuff is turning in overdrive.
People have posted about Badaxe MBs are dying and taking out SB cards, Ram, etc
People have posted that P5W DH Deluxe was released with 401 and 502 bios chips that are not compatible with C2D, B2, retail CPUs. Also, the likelihood that you can flash from 0401 or 502 to 701 with a P4 and then insert your C2D and expect it to boot is 50/50 at best. Also, to have to switch bios chips with the P5WD2-E Prem is also 50/50 at best. However, these 2 methods should not be incured in the cost of a $260 MB, period. Also, it is no rumor that Asus doesn't want to honor their warranty and ship free 702 Bios chips to those who have 0401, 502 and in some cases 604 bios chips.

When you spend $200+ for a product you expect it to work as intended. When the product is defective the warranty found on the product should address the problem at no cost to the consumer. It's nothing to sneeze at when a product at that price point doesn't work at all. And when the company who manufactures that defective product want you to pay them to fix it...well lets just say their is something wrong with this method of thinking.

looks like asus is winning..

I guess theres loads of dead Bad Axe out there still but they are all modded =) I still expected Bad Axe to "win" this since its the most widespread C2D-ready board.

if asus sells 100 units, and 10 fail... and intel sells 1000 units, and 100 fail... is there any difference in failure rate?

comparing the number of failures without comparing the number of units made is completely without merit.

and that doesnt even factor in how many 1st time modders are dicking things up with improper installation and settings.

just my .02
