I just got my P5B Deluxe. I don't have a Conroe to put in it yet, but so far I like it. I'll post some mroe after I play around a little.
P.S. Windows Activation after EVERY time I format my HD is starting to piss me off.

It is so many activation in a certain amount of time. After awhile it will let you active another number of times.
this is why I use corporate Windows CD with genuine Serial.
Everything work, but no activation.. ever !
Or use a Drive image soft (like ghost) and you will be fine also..
btw post some pics/result of your p5b
thunderstruck!

Where did you get the P5B from?

The Internet Activation never works for me becasue I format so often. I usually call. They just ask why, and I tell them I formatted my disk since it got too cluttered for me. They'll allow me activate no problem.
Installation was nice and easy. The microphone is shaped just right so it sits on top of my monitor. This was my first RAID experience, and that was a breeze. It came with 90-day Norton Internet Security, so that's good. Haven't looked much at the BIOS yet. Just about to.

You need to find a "crack". Mine wants activation too, but I'm too lazy to pick up the phone.

I got my P5B from Newegg when it was still $250.
I'm pretty new to overclocking. I must say, it's much easier on this than the 975XBX. I forget what a good temperature is. Anything below 60C, right? Ignore the Vcore on there; it's really 1.4V.

I tried jumping the gun to 300FSB but it failed to start up. Not to worry, though, becasue all you ahve to do is turn it off again, and turn it back on, and it tells you about your failure and that you can fix it. NO JUMPER REQUIRED!
BTW, I need some betetr file hosting.
Norton Internet Security.. one of the best way to have problem.
So, look like a nice stable board ? :p:

Most stable board I've ever used. That's not saying much, though. It's not letting me go much higehr than that. What can I raise other than the Vcore to raise the FSB?

What cooling solution are you using?
Also, see if you can change the timings to 4-4-4-12 with a 2.1v or 2.2v.
I'm going to order the P5B-Deluxe as well but I'm going to wait till the price comes down, even if it takes a while.

It's a Zalman CNPS9500LED. I'll try that, but I think it didn't work so well on my 975XBX.

Nice jbizzler! Thanks for the screens and first impressions.
I notice the one you got is indeed still rev C1. I'm still a little concerned about the fix they're making/have made in C2, but hey the board seems great anyway!
Anandtech got their P5B Deluxe up to 37X FSB. I dunno, maybe bump up vCore ever so slightly (actually nevermind. I'm an OC newbie so please don't listen to me. I don't want you frying your sexy new board on my account ;p )
Still it's really nice to see you're having a good experience with ease of use and whatnot.

No chance at getting to 4-4-4-12, but I noticed something in the manual. the page that talks about the second PEG shows a Crossfire mastercard and slave card, but they're not hooked up and the page doesn't even mention Crossfire. Well, it works on the 945P, so I don't see why it can't technically work on the P965.

Should be picking up my P5B-Deluxe tomorrow along with 2GB of gskill 6400 HZ, I read in anandtech's article Link (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2797&p=5) that there is a new bios that increases the max FSB settings from 400 to 500MHz, but I can't seem to find it on Asus's web site? You guys know any thing about this mystery bios?

Silves, I'm using a Pentium D, not Core 2 Duo. I can't go anywhere near that high. I managed 275 though. Why doesn't the BIOS Vcore match the Ai Suite Vcore? Which one is right?
It's hard to know real value. Most Asus board (and some other) usually are 0.05 lower than the value in the bios..
So your 1.34V when you set 1.4V isn't that "strange".

welcome to Asus ,Ai Suite(Aibooster for me) shows 0.02-0.03v higher right?
i think Asus does it to make more stable ,so trust the Ai Suite
EDIT
now i c ,you set 1.4v and got only 1.33v :S
im using a P5WDG2 and 1.312 in bios and Aibooster show me 1.33v

Okay; tell me how safe I am.
50C Idle
1.392V(1.45 in BIOS)
FSB 280MHz
How cna I check my stability, and hwo safe of a temperature is this?
run 2x SP2004 for few hours and you will know.
check the temp if it's lower than 70C under load.
btw what is the temp of the chipset ? (want to know if it's cooler than the 975X)
jbizzler
07-21-2006, 07:33 AM
40C. It stays at 40 no matter what I do.
Edit: BTW it's at $245 now at Newegg. It was still $270 this morning, so it's going down.

jbizzler: I have no idea about the voltage but 50C idle for a Pentium D is not so bad. I agree that you should run SP2004 and see what your load temp is, but if your idle temp is 50 then your load temp hopefully won't be much over 67 or 68 I'd hope.

I pumped the Vcore one interval above 1.45V, and now now Ai Suite reads exactly 1.4V. It idles around 52C, and while playing Oblivion, 60C. That Vcore has allowed me to have an FSB of 280. So now I'm at 4.2GHz. Not bad for air, right? That's 200MHz higher than the 975XBX let me get!

Eh, I'm not bothered by the price drop. I needed a new mobo ASAP when i ordered it. I was computerless from Tuesday to Thursday!
Anyway, when I had my 975XBX, BF2 was perfroming terribly. I thought it was just my CPU, but now with this chipset, it runs flawlessly. Any ideas?
I'M SOO HAPPY I CAN PLAY BF2 AGAIN!

Yay for BF2! I am so looking forward to experiencing the difference for that game between my upcoming E6600 / GF7900GT / 2GB and my current P 2.4C northwood / Radeon 9500 / 1GB!

How did you get free shipping Andre? I found it for $209 by going through Froogle but doesn't look like it has free shipping any more. I went ahead and ordered one though since i'm sure this board isn't going to drop below $200 at any point in the near future and at the launch next it may be harder to get a board if availability is good.

Yup i also have everything maxed out in BF2 and CS:S(HDR). My system shouldnt come anywhere close to a E6700 and X1900XT.
Maybe a driver problem if you are getting bad performance in all games.
