View Full Version : There should be a General Cooling Forum

I've always wondered why there isn't one. Kind of silly really. Every cooling discussion isn't limited to either one specific type of cooling or another. If XS doesn't want any wars over which type is better, state in a sticky that its not allowed and if you do it, the staff will not hesitate to ban you. Problem solved. :)

What would you talk about then?

Almost every thread can be put into a respective category.

Oh there's lots of stuff. :)

Some of them I can think of are discussions about possible new cooling technologies that wouldn't belong in one of the already existing categories, news updates about companies that cater to multiple methods of cooling, discussions on which cases are better for heat dissipation and why, asking questions about temperature monitoring software, how to measure temperatures in a case and the best hardware or panels to do it with, problems with sensors or how to install them if someone is have a problem with them, and what an acceptable temperature is for a specific part. Someone unfamiliar with all the different methods of cooling could ask what different methods of cooling are available for a certain component (for instance a video card), what is involved, the difficulty of installation and maintenance, the strengths and weaknesses of each type, the highest rated models of each type, cost differences, where to buy them, etc. There are lots of examples I can think of.

this sounds like a good idea.

it could be for stuff like TIMs, general heat reduction ideas,

maybe it would get rid of some of the dumb threads in the w/c section about psu's and cases fans. because people think that because they have watercooling, every question should go in there.

Fair enough, I suppose I don't see why not, shouldn't be hard to implement/take away if it dies...

I know, lol. I just want to know if the people in charge like the idea. It seems popular enough and I think its worth a shot. :) I was surprised when I first posted in that area that there wasn't a general area under cooling. There's a lot of stuff that belongs in there.
