View Full Version : 2 Fans on Condenser?

I was wondering if anybody had tried using 2 fans on the condenser before? Ie: if my system started off with a single 100cfm fan on the condensor, what would be the effect of buying another fan of the same model and running them both in a push-pull configuration but at half speed each?
I ask because 2 fans running at the same speed only increases the number of decibals by around 3. This means that if my 100cfm fan produced 40db at full speed and 22db and 50cfm at half speed, then 2 fans running at half speed will push 50cfm each at 25db. I'm guessing someone will tell me that running 2 fans like this does not equate to the same pressure/cfm as the 1 fan at full?

resonance noise will be horrid. And two fans are going to turn at not exact speed killing some advantage you thought you would get wilt static pressure.

Do you mean for AC fans? Surely this will not be an issue with DC fans and rubber mountings? http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=19297

Not to disregard MikeC's experiment... keep in mind his testing is with almost no restriction what so ever unlike our scenario where condenser is quite restrictive over all. Also noticed the fan in question... basically his got his fan down to point where bearing noise and air noise itself is more of an issue than the actual fan noise.. :) I don't think you are running your condenser fan that slow...

I have experimented with this before and found no improvement atall when running push/pull. I tried 3 sets of fans. For 2 x fans at 50% I think it will gain nothing except create more noise than 1 fan at 50%.

Cheers for the answers guys. I don't have enough knowledge/equipment to test this myself, which is why i asked the question.
@jinu117 - Obviously i would never run the fan at the speeds mentioned on SPCR! lol
