I have had this Gfroster XE 1.2 controller for a few months now. Originally it was for a customers unit but then they decided they didn’t want it. So just put it in the cupboard and havnt looked at it since while catching up on other work.
Well I finally got around to trying it in a recent unit and im having troubles getting it installed and running.
I installed it according to the install guide on the gfroster thread.
When I installed it on my pc, when I turned the pc power switch on (that normally connects to the mothor board, but is now connected to the 2 pin wire from the gfroster controller) the gfrsoter controller boots does its thing then goes to a 5min count down timer on the display, but neither the compressor or 12v fan is running yet.
For now I have connected it as per this drawing
http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/6223/xe12controllerhelpna8.th.jpg (http://img373.imageshack.us/my.php?image=xe12controllerhelpna8.jpg)
except for the wire coming from the PC PSU isn’t connected, don’t under stand why that is needed or its function?
Is connecting this wire a must?
On the connections of the gfroster PCB pin 2 and 3 on board are both physically connected (on circuit board through tracks) and if I put 240v straight to pin3 as well as pin1 and the compressor runs when ever mains lead is connected. I know this happens because wiring it in this fashion bypasses the circuity on the gfroster controller.

Secondly
If I want to just test my controller to make sure its functioning correctly. If I connect the JP1 connector and then short the 2 pin connection as seen here in the red circle
http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/5227/manualruntestingbs3.th.jpg (http://img373.imageshack.us/my.php?image=manualruntestingbs3.jpg)
There should be 12vs on the fan pin connector JP2 and the pin 3 if I measure the volts between that and neutral should read 240v correct?
Any help would great thanxs guys.

Having the connections done as the user manual (http://www.arctic-frost.co.uk/FROSTER/Xe_1_2_User_Manual/Xe_1_2_User_Manual.pdf) describes, What happends after the 5 min count down.?

For testing the hardware and conecctions, follow these steps.
1_ quit power from the controller.
2_ press and hold power button
3_ apply power
4_ release power button

After 3 seconds the LCD backlight will start blinking, the compresor will start working, and the fan will spin at full speed.
After checking, quit the power to reset the controller.

thanxs for that quick response there golden eagle. I dont think i let it finish.
Ill try that tomorrow night and see what happens.

SO is there any other way i can connect that wire to pin2 coming from the PC mains power connection. As that one is gonna be a pain to install.

Your are wellcome.
About that wire. This connection is needed since the thermal protection (in case the evap temp rises over safe values) cuts the power from the psu to protect the pc.
Next firmware release will provide an alternative for this fuction, but for now I strongly encourage you to make the connection that way.

input to ac-mains, output to JP1
you can see it on page 5 of the user manual (http://www.arctic-frost.co.uk/FROSTER/Xe_1_2_User_Manual/Xe_1_2_User_Manual.pdf):)
