View Full Version : Extra performance by cooling the compressor?

I'm guessing both yes and no.
Yes: slightly cooler gas inside the compressor
No: the current condensor I'm using is more than sufficient for R290

Does a compressor really need to be cooled or should I just leave it as it is?
May sound like a weird idea but I want to get the most out of my R290 loop (still waiting for parts, lol)

Most of compressors are cooled by itself (gas). If you are using a very high pressure gas ,an extra fan would be sufficient.:)

hermetics count on anywhere from 10% to 20% of there cooling from air passing over the housing in addition to the cool returning vapor.

So for R290 a big condensor is sufficient and won't have any performance boost? With my understanding cooling the compressor isn't needed but could help a little when using hard-to-condense gases like the 407(or is it 507)?

I dont think there are any performance gains, just prolonged life span of everythig in general and the seals and prolonged ability to pull a nice pressure difference.

You have a rotary right? Then its really recomended you put some kind of fan over it
