this was done on a 165 @ 2906 2 gigs pat ram 242 2.5-3-2-5
7800 GT @ 495/1200 stock air...
I was hoping this setup would atleast get closer to 40k.. but it sucks
2nd run was after running 3dm 01 on core 1, 200 more points :(

those scores are good for that setup.

It is without some major OCing. Nvidia cards are much harder to hit that 40k with than ATI. You might try some older Nvidia Drivers Cant remember which ones still have the optimazations for 01 still installed...Iam thinking the 77xx series do...And yes you need to to do the LOD tweak....

tweaking my friend, tweaking.
shut down services, use lod, tweak your mem timings with a64tweaker and choose the right drivers.

I consider it a bit low too, I get 29,000 with my 24/7 setup. A64 SD3700+ @ 2.69GHz, 6800GT @ 440/1155, OCZ Gold VX 2x512MB @ DDR490 2-2-2-5. Or then I should be happy whit what I get I guess.
I use Xtreme-G 84.37.v2 drivers (gives around 100points more in 01 but is a lot better in games) haven't done any lod tweaks, image settings on the default "quality" setting etc, slipstreamed Win XP Pro SP1 integrated OS, formatting like once every 1 - 2 months, only got like 15 services running when benching (I rarely even go above 20 services during my daily usage anyways :D)
If I were u I had expected 35 - 37k. You sure Vsync isn't enabled?

dont expect high score such as >35k with no tweaking, with series 7800gt. put your hands on work and try to reach 37k (first objective). after, try 37.5k 38k and so one.
the scores u see around (orb, hwbot) are tweaked scores, not just oc and run.
I would expect some more points with this combination, but as we all know cpu power counts a lot in '01 as you can see here:

Only with a X800GTO 16 pipes 560/550 MHZ ;)
I now have a X2 here and could give it a run with the same gpu, think I couldn't do even 31k now (X2 only goes ~3GHZ for benching)
