What is the difference between a strainer and a drier? Are they the same thing? I know a drier traps moisture in a system.

I would guess a strainer just removes particles and not moisture.

Strainers arent really of use in a SS, but they are very useful for removing crap.

commonly find strainers (wire mesh screens) in liquid line right before metering device. They catch small particles before metering device catches them. Driers are some sort of dessicant or other chemical used to absorb moisture in the system due to poor vacuum techniques. There are also different types of driers such as high acid that you install after a burnout.
