View Full Version : memory advertisments everywhere?

Is it only me who feels that the memory advertisments in peoples signatures are a "little" overwhelming? We have these massive signatures consisting of almost only commercials...

While I see that it is a competition, it is still somewhat displeasing visually :( At least if the mods could make sure no signatures exceed the size limit? There are some who find it smart to combine mushkin banners, ocz banners and their own custom rig banners for the ultimate aesthetic appeal :(

Some of the moderators are already going around warning by private messaging the members to respect the rules: 300KB @ 250Hx550L pixels.
I did get warned a while ago, so the job is being done

I really hope they don't get payed to spam in signatures.

I was wondering what was going on with all that OCZ in the sigs.

Perry, we're working on it...most of us are not 'used' to looking for sig problems (and not all of us are doing it...otherwise members would probably start getting a lot of PMs saying pretty much the same thing), so we may be slow on the uptake sometimes, but if there's a sig that's too big, the user will probably hear about it ;)

Ok, sweet :)

Regardless whether its a one time promotion or not, seeing the brand names all over the forum is aesthetically displeasing at least for me :(

Bannable offense in my opinion.

if true, i agree:

4. We do not permit advertising of any kind.
This includes offering items for sale or trade (other than in the Classifieds). Posting to your homepage, an eBay URL, a URL to another site, or announcements of new sites. This applies equally to commercial and private sites/ads. This is also not to happen within user signatures. Links to deals available online are to be posted only in Online Deals & Sales. The only allowed links in a signature will be links directly related to XtremeSystems, Xtreme D2OL, Xtreme Folding@Home and XtremeSystems affiliated website or organization. If you wish to link to your site, you may do so in your usercp which links in every post you make.

i even think that a lot of the test reports in xtreme bandwidth shouldn't really be there.. i'm starting to see it as advertisement more than anything else :(

We have a contest for July and things will return to normal. We are helping our sponsors as well as giving away free product to the members who wish to participate.

With the AM2/Conroe releases, this month was a great choice for exposure.
