i thought Intel 304 is faster than Asus P5WDH..... I guess i was wrong about Asus. But, Intel 304 gives better OC than P5WDH that is for sure IMO
3.78G 32M
E6600 @ 420*9 1.5v (CPUz read 1.472~1.488v)
GSKILL DDR2 800 2GBHZ 2.4v
3sec faster than INTEL 304 3.813G
ASUS P5WDH

Better OC ?
Were both or non boards modded ?

i did vdroop on p5wdh
for 304, i shorted debug pin and vdimm
basically, asus p5wdh will not boot if i set over 390FSB

LOL 3 sec. in 32MB? I think the difference is not worth it (perhaps it should happen even at same settings).

You should have run it 3 times and done a mean of them in both cases.

if it is 30mhz difference, and slower is faster.....i won't even run 2nd time
under EXACT same ram setting
remember, the ram is running slower and cpu is slower also
Good comparo there Denny:toast:

Yeah... this is true... that's why a "par setting vs" would have been better :D.

i use 1066(333) + 667 to start. in windows i used clockgen to pull up to 424

In that case, ASUS does a bit better.....:)

also in intel 304, if no vdimm mod = no ddr2 1000+.....

yeah just noticed that lap job on that IHS nice!

I also think so.
It seems to be faster than 1066 of D975XBX.

Good job, glad I bought the Asus.
Funny how some don't want to read what the test setting are before posting.
Best lap job on a cpu I have ever seen.:toast:

denny why not compare the same MHz for better comparison............it seems from a few different people that Asus is a tad faster
wonder what DFI Infinity is like in comparison to the two boards
i thought i might see some lapping sooner or later if the IHS can't be popped :D

Great work Denny - thanks for sharing.
Oh, and that lapping is quality - how long did it take?

Nice work. Guess it's in line with some other guys who felt that the Asus is a little faster clock for clock. Too bad it doesn't clock as high but maybe that'll get better with a different bios...

What's the highest bootable FSB for each board? (Not counting Windows Clockgen)
ASUS = ? FSB
Intel = ? FSB
Also, say if ASUS can boot @400FSB, does it require you to take baby steps? (like from 350FSB->360FSB->370->380->390->400FSB, involving 5 reboots)
I'm asking this because it's the behavior of my A8N32-SLI which does up to 430HTT, only by raising the HTT gradually.
Thanks for the nice comparison. But I'm not sure which one to go with for my Conroe rig. Currently the most attractive one for me is the new MSI 975X.

Nice comparison...I'd be interested to see if there's any kind of margin when running 1M, or if that 3 second margin is consistent after restarting the machine and re-running 32M.

good question. for me, the highest FSB to boot up is about 390 for me in P5WDH
but in D975XBX is 1066 + 40%..... which is 333*1.4.....= 466...
A8N32 is not a good idea but it is not designed by Asus intel team, from p5wd2-e, p5wd2, p5wd2-p... all of them have high fsb boot up problem.
the new MSI 975 looks very good... we will see when it available in market :D
