Can anyone help me with a repair and hopefully a performance mod for my Mach 2 GT? I have recently had to regass it and it I am only getting -52C on the evap unloaded. I am in Brisbane, Australia and no one here knows how to repair these units.

Can anyone help please?

LCD readout, I had to have it regassed because the supplier forget to remove the USB header that controls the heating element during some maintenance workso it burned through the plastic surrounding the head. New head unit and regass was the end result.

LCD temps used to be -60C

jinu117 is it possible for you to improve the performance of the Mach 2 GT from stock?

Don't forget you are in Australia and Jinu in the states, shipping to him and back will costs you the same as to get another unit
Jinu work is excellent, but you also have one of the more talented guys in your own country and it will be less hasle.

Cool thanks, I have already PM'd Kayl. I was fed up with waiting for my Mach 2 to get repaired/parts etc so I have just purchased another one, don't know why I didn't check in here first :stick:

Hey Simon,
Good to see another aussie getting into phase change. Kayl will be your best bet, just make sure you get a few different quotes for shipping to him in perth, Aust post isn't always the cheapest. If you need any other bits and pieces, either Kayl or myself could help you out, i'm located in Townsville, Nth QLD. Cheers Craig

Problem is the Mach 2 head attachement is well thought out and works. I have only had one failure and that was on a golden FX 57  all my fault I didn't get the seal 100% :slapass:

Must say though the support I have had from ECT and the Australian distributor has been very good, credit where credit is due

Kayl gets the unit this week, he is going to post pics of the mods and a report on how he goes in this forum.

Eheheh... honestly though with recent LGA 775, I do ponder quite often how effective mach II's insulation is vs what we have to put up with... :p

interesting head.
Little low on insulation though frosted up straight away on one side.
The enclosure seams to be sealed?
anyone know how to get the probe out, or where i can get a new probe and leave enclosure alone?

i brazed up the new condenser for it :toast:

k now i have to ask how to get this thing running on power.
its there a trick to getting it to run
i did short the 2 pin connetor together 2x to start.
but it shut down at about -29c i guess it tried to boot windows or something?

Same as vapochill LS. You need to have molex connected with powered on so it doesn't shut down :) Hint for you Kayl. Keep a good old AT or ATX power supply with green to black soldered or bridged. I use it to power fans while testing, to make sure controllers are fooled into computer is on, etc :) I had enough laying around that I didn't have to spend dime for it.
Probe sits right around suction line epoxied.. get ready to order new probe while trying to take it out. Why not just leave it in?

That is what I have on my M1 is a old AT. Great for testing mach/vapo's and when going to boxes of "stuff" to test is like fans and drives to make sure the spin up.

Maybe you have one sticker in back with the kind of gas, but i think regas with r134a is out of your mind, both units use the same compressor, but use diferent gases.

Outside looking is the same, Mach2 ST, Mach2 and Mach2 GT, but those 2 last ones have USB connection and LCD, Mach2 ST doesn´t have it.

If simonk didn´t bought the LCD after the unit you maybe have in there Mach2 or Mach2 GT.

yeah thats just single core loaded prime.

-46c idle and around -33c dual prime cpu at around 220-240w now.
ITs charged with r404a

Hey Mark,

What do you get on dual prime? I can't test mine until the weekend.

I am getting evap temps idle in the early morning 7am of -61c daytime -50c with FX 60 @ 3.3 @ 1.60 vcore

below -57 they read 80ish, on load with my evap at -46 on fluke, it shows -74 -75

man that suck, this one seems to read -50c when the ddt200 reads -46c.
Ill try and upload a pic of the probe in a few days see if its the same one on other mach 2 units.

Now im starting to hope that i have plugged the wire in the correct way and location.
The probe for the head is on this connector, is this the correct position?
does it matter which way ya wire the probe, as i had to cut the wire to remove and re attach it. wires didnt seem to indicate that there was a positive and a negative.

Yup the condenser probe is nothing more than thermal cut off switch really. In case of emergency shut down.
As for the probe, no polarity as it is thermistor.
Only reason original mach probe was really reading so far off was #1, they used the wrong value of probe for temp range it is used for to begin with, #2, they placed it in suction line.... of course it will read colder than evap under full load.
Maybe they accidentally put good probe on this unit you had in hand Kayl... lol :)

kayl
08-06-2006, 05:51 PM
Thanxs for thatguys. So they are using thermistor beads hey Jinu117. I know that this unit has just come back from getting a new enclosure from the manufacture, so they may have changed the probe as well, the wires had been already cut and rejoined with heat shrink. I was really hoping to send this unit back reading -80c damit. Simonk said that the unit use to do -60c before it went away, when it got back was reading -50c. Maybe that’s why.
