Hi Guys

I was given these today from a guy in the work.

From what information I can gather I take these are pretty much useless apart from making a home made vacume pump?

I am wanting to run a conroe, would you guys recommend getting a compressor than can run R402a or R404a.

I have also been offered these two items at a cheap price through a friend.

What do you guys think? Will one of these let me do all the required charging and vac jobs?

Cheers

Unless my eyes decieve me the bottom 2 pics are of a charging station (with vaccum pump) and a reclamation system. If he wants less than say $500 US GET THEM. As to those first 2 compressors, make a few SS units just to get the practice with brazing and pressure testing and what not before you spend the money on a good setup.

yea a quick change of the oil and you should be able to use them, but i wouldn't trust them for a 24/7 system not to mention r600a compressors are supposed to be rather weak

that aint reclamation, thats a recycler!!! they were like $1500 new when my dad's car repair shop got one
and i think the sightglass is reading wet, so it might need to be vaccumed, and the vaccum pump on the red thing is old enough to maby be a non cheap knockoff. i'd buy them both, if the prices were as high as $100 for the red thing and $600 for the recycler

I had one of those exact compressors die in about 5 minutes with R404a. Perhaps it will handle Propane... I wont buy them

No! they will >>>>NOT<<<< They will die with any thing more then R-600a Iso-Butane, it is a rather odd gas as it needs a very large mass flow and is easy to compress, there for a weak compressor with a large displacement, it "May" work with R-134a but I highly doubt it.

Displacment vs hp is the issue however most R134a compressors have too high a hp forthe displacment when used on -50 suction systems. These R600a compressors if charged in a properly sized system should be fine. You will need to keep the static pressure low and use an expansion tank with a cap tube to meter teh system charge in gradually so the head pressure will not rise above the stall pressure of the compressor..

How about any of these two?

Could not find much info on an internet search.

The LG compressors suction line seems a little squashed?

The LG Compressor looks fine! There is no problem with suction line I think.
If you want to use R12 compressors with new refrigiants you have to change oil to POE oil or you use propane aka R290.
