View Full Version : 8RDA+ hi vcore & bootup
My 8RDA+ V1.1 will run 2.0v Prime 95 all day long......BUT, if i power off and then try booting up, i get no post......what gives???
Post code 0d (or P0).....XP2100+ at 11.5 x 210.
I have to hold insert to get it to boot after this happens and then go up in steps to higher voltages again!!
Any fixes welcome. VDD mod. done already.
Thanks

The only workaround that I know of is to just leave your powerstrip on all the time...
Meaning instead of when turning off your computer by turning off the powerstrip... You just turn off your hardware individually and leave your powerstrip on...
This will make it so that your motherboard always has some power flowing through it and you won't have a problem cold booting...
I do leave the power sockets on all the time, so power to the motherboard is constantly supplied......the problem is only apparent when vcore is higher than around 1.9v.

Don't know then... That must be some other problem then...
I have the same problem on my system when running 1.85v or higher... But if I leave my powerstrip always on then I can cold boot no problem..

bito, another solution. run F@H, and eventually you'll get the sickness. you won't shut your computer off then. :D
Swiftdeathz knows what i'm talking about, and if he doesn't, he will soon.

I have a similar problem. I never made the connection between high voltage and not booting. I always assumed that it was me running at 2.45ghz or higher with my 350 watt power supply. At least I don't get that overvolt protection that kicks in on some mobos at those high vcores.

I used to have the same problem with my KR7A-133R, mobo ran fine, except always had the cold boot problem. No matter what I tried, it made absolutely no difference. Power strips on/off, delay timings in bios, you name it.
Now with the NF7-S rev 1.2, never a problem whatsoever. The thing boots like a champ.
At least till I fry the first bios chip, lol! I have one on order...just in case it won't save the settings.

I had the same cold boot problem while using Corsair XMS3500 on my 8RDA+ v1.1. I switched to twinmos (winbond) pc3200 and never had the problem again. No more corrupt cmos while booting up. No more C1, C3, P0, or 41.

Until I sold my epox, it worked like a charm no matter how i abused it.
Method Man: this is a cold boot problem, not a high Vcore shutdown. I think the mobo doesn't actually apply the voltages that you specify until quite a way into the boot process, hence it doesn't boot if you push it too hard too fast. I've found by gradually upping voltages and overclocks you can then get back to your previous stable speed. :)
Set cpu interface from Aggressive to Optimal.....now boots every time!!
Thanks and hope this helps you guys...give it a go and post back here pls.

Do you lose any performance setting it to optimal? I am not sure what that option does, but it would seem to be some sort of performance increase option. Maybe I am wrong.

I get higher memory scores in sisoft sandra using Aggressive instead of Optimal. I don't remember how much higher it was, but it was noticable.
Just flashed to new bios....3303....and...it fixed my problem, allowing me to keep setting at Aggressive.....it has a new cpu startup routine and show dual memory in the startup screen.
