Yes couldn't wait for the Gecube provided card, so bought this 512MB HIS X1900 Crossfire Mastercard http://www.hisdigital.com/html/product_sp.php?id=219 2nd hand off TOX at OCAU. Thanks mate :toast:

System:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 QPGE Step 5/B1 /Swiftech G4 Storm
Intel D975XBX Badaxe rev304 no volt mods
512MB HIS X1900 Crossfire stock HSF single card
2x 512MB Corsair PC5400ULv1.5 Micron D9 Fatbody DDR2
320GB Seagate 7200.10 SATAII 16MB
Pioneer DVD-RW + FDD
700W OCZ GameXStream Multi-GPU Psu (http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=2672)

WinXP Pro SP2 fully updated
6.6 Catalyst Official drivers

Right now stock heatsink air cooled with fan speed dynamic with it set for >55C = 100%

I managed on GPU core using ATI Tool 0.24 beta 14 with video memory set fixed at 720mhz.

GPU/VDDC/VDDQ/VDDCI = GPU/Mem

GPU Overclocking

1.425/2.086/2.086/1.486 = 712-715mhz - looking good, that's already 10-13mhz higher than my Gecube X1900XTX at 1.425v http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=103927

1.450/2.086/2.086/1.486 = 729mhz, very good i think 9mhz better than my Gecube X1900XTX.

1.475/2.086/2.086/1.486 =

1.500/2.086/2.086/1.486 = 732mhz so far @66C load temps. Slightly better than Gecube X1900XTX, looks promising for crossfire :D

Video Memory Overclocking

With GPU fixed at 621mhz

1.425/2.086/2.086/1.486 = 747mhz

1.500/2.086/2.086/1.486 = 769mhz - yup like all ATI cards seems increase GPU volts alone improves mem clocks.

1.525/2.086/2.086/1.486 = 769mhz - yup like all ATI cards seems increase GPU volts alone improves mem clocks. Seems need to place with other voltages heh.

1.500/2.086/2.086/1.563 = 783mhz

1.500/2.132/2.086/1.486 = hung at 724mhz

1.500/2.105/2.086/1.563 = run upto 868mhz artifact testing dropped it back to 864mhz - seems better than my Gecube X1900XTX on ram too!

1.500/2.113/2.086/1.563 = run upto 873mhz before locked up

1.500/2.119/2.086/1.563 = run upto 868mhz artifact testing dropped it back to 864mhz. Interesting 2.119v VDDC too much ?

1.500/2.124/2.086/1.563 = 859mhz guess >2.113v VDDC is too much so far

1.500/2.113/2.102/1.563 = 842-859mhz

1.500/2.113/2.009/1.563 = 814mhz

More tests to come :D

I'm very happy this crossfire card clocks as well as it does to keep up with my Gecube X1900XTX :D

Only thing to do now is buy a 2nd GPU waterblock for watercooling as I only have 1x Acteal Maze4 LP GPU waterblock right now heh.

Seems for it to work in Crossfire i won't be able to use another Maze4 block for one of the cards as the back threads stick too far out the back of the card for single PCI-E slot spacing.

Going to try Radiical's GPU waterblock http://www.radiical.com.au/FAQ%27s/Radiical%20GPU%20Block%20FAQ.asp as the threads come out the front/top side of the card. So can try this on the card in PCI-E slot #2 :)

Results
Well just doing some load tests to see what the max temps under load are and look at this raw power for a single X1900 Crossfire stock hsf card NOT YET in crossfire configuration!

Update:

Jumped straight to 1.55/2.113/2.086/1.564 and managed 735/864. That's 15mhz better on GPU core compared to my Gecube X1900XTX on stock hsf! I'm happy my crossfire card will not hold me back :D

From E6600 @3600mhz with 725/855 to @3748mhz with 735/864 only increased 3dmark05 from 14800 to 14999 hehe. Looks like for single X1900 CF master card only, E6600 is making 3dmark05 GPU limited not cpu limited :D

The Swiftech MCW60 is wonderful for this and very slightly outperforms the Maze4 too. I have a Maze4 on my master and a MCW60 on my slave and they work very well together. The MCW-60 only sticks out as far as the stock cooler on the backside of the card.

thanks. i totally forgot to look at the MCW-60 heh... hmmmm

Nice write up so far...

See you have gone over to the darkside...hehe

Even I thought about it if I had them money..

On a side note, where do you get the money for all these parts?? Hook a overclocker on a budget up! LoL

In any case look forward to more results.

My question, when the stock clocks are 625/725 and you can reach 725/825 with no voltage increase... Is it really worth the extra 1.5vcore and 0.2vmem to get such a miniscule increase?

I personally feel much safer overclocked on stock volts...
100mhz overclock is good on stock volts!

+1.5vcore must reduce lifespan of the video card? and for only few MHZ?

@eva2000

That's a bad a$$ masta.

Mine maxed at 711|810, then again I haven't tried it again since I changed my PSU. I plan on playing with both X1900 Crossfire and this 7950 GX2 when I get my Conroe. I just need to lose this placeholder CPU :p

yeah i'm definitely a happy man with this crossfire card...

only thing now is to get better ddr2 memory or higher vdimm for my PC5400ULv1.5 - unfortunately don't know how to do volt mods LOL

depends if it's just for benchmarking and you have gpu temps under control then it's okay... for 24/7 best to lower it though unless you have water cooling

Well playing with the single HIS X1900 Crossfire master card with stock hsf and not bad for 6.6 official catalysts. The 6.6betas will give me 300+ pts more :D

Nice.

I'll try some of your voltages out on my rig and see if it helps. It should, you've got pretty nice numbers.

thanks :)

hmm decided to try crossfire with master in x16 slot and slave in x4 slot for now, but seems whenever i either install .net framework v1.1 or 2.0 and cat 6.6 it foobars my OS with missing newdev.dll , apps when clicked won't load and missing app associations, slow movement in windows etc ??? and forces me to have to restore my os partition from a back up ??

everything is fine upto .net framework install.. after catalyst install 6.5 or 6.6 it goes to crap :(
