Mounting Vapo LS on the Bad Axe was a pain, but it was well worth it:

3DM03 WR: 52769

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=48965&stc=1&d=1152091318

Setup:

Conroe E6600 @ 1.68V Vcore, cooled by Vapochill LS
Intel 975XBX "bad Axe" fully modded (1.9V Vmch, 1.45V Vfsb)
2X1GB Teamgroup D9 DDR800 @ 2.6V
2X EVGA 7900GTX @ 1.68V/2.28V, stock cooling
Tagan U15 580W

Also, E6600 max clock WR and Intel max FSB WR (equal to Kyosen, Clockgen's slider is at the end):

Vcore = 1.755V
Vmch = 2.005V
Vfsb = 1.4900V

And the first 3DM01 run, with moderate clocks on VGA and memory:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=48968&stc=1&d=1152091884

I had to stop everything due to early condensation problems (LGA775 is a b!tch to insulate), i'll start again later on.

Really amazing the SLI power in Nature :)

The Vfsb mod, was it decisive to reach the 500 FSB?

Good work ! :toast:

No gain for GT2, GT3 and GT4 I think ? If so then it is good to see 3dmark03 still being mainly gpu dependent ( unlike later 05 ).

Rather than FM ditch 2001 I think they should ditch 05 as it is included in 06 anyway. Then you would have gamers test as such

2001 = cpu test
03 = graphics test
06 = combined test.

( roughly speaking of course )

Regards

Andy

nice, but only benchies at 4.13Ghz why ?

to try go over 500Mhz FSB use systool it work better than clockgen :)

did you try with 1.9v Vmch ? i can go to 498Mhz with ~1.880v but if i set more, can't go over 480Mhz...

Micutzu
07-05-2006, 03:58 AM
I had to remount the Vapo head, running more benches as we speak. The Systool version i've tried doesn't support Bad Axe's PLL, will try more. Vmch scales very well, 1.97V for 497Mhz, 2.0V for 500Mhz for example.

Here's a 2001 with high clocked memory, VGA still has more left in it.

Quick question, what vMCH did you need for ~450Mhz FSB....trying to validate my data. Thanks.

Micutzu
07-05-2006, 06:43 AM
I could do 450Mhz at about 1.8V, not sure if less than that was OK because i didn't go under 1.8V :).

Most likely insulation. Caps are very close to the socket making it quite a chore, to say the least. Ever too common for LGA775 boards. :-/

How hard is to mount vapo LS on badaxe? what was the problem?

The caps/inductors are too close to the socket and the original mounting sits on them and not on the CPU. The head needed new mounting system and new insulation, i'll get some pics for you tomorrow.

Not on Nvidia cards ;) The system tests are slower than a comparable Conroe/CF setup because ATI is more efficient with system power in '01. However the Nature score makes up for that nicely.

Nice scores mic!
